Both officers glanced at each other, before referring to Alan's notes. When they stood, they both looked slightly disappointed. Even so, they left quickly after a brief, noncommittal 'thank you for your time'.

Sally furrowed her brow and looked at James. "Not even a 'Sorry for the disturbance'or whatever? C'mon."

James shrugged, the door clicked closed, and he nearly knocked his chair over getting up to check on Aurora. Sally hurried after him. A single spot of yellow flickered on her arm. Fuck.

She turned to see them, and it shifted into blue. He flopped onto his bed. It didn't take long for her to piece together that they were alone again. She didn't waste time in stripping herself while hurrying to the bathroom.

James and Sally stared after her for a moment, and then at each other. She spoke what they both had on their mind.

"How long do you think we have?"

James curled his hands into fists, pressing them against his temples. "I don't know...that Nova guy had blue, so maybe he was lying to them?"

"You really think he would do that?"

"Who knows...until she can speak to us, we have nothing but questions."

Sally pursed her lips. "Then let me keep staying here. I'll try to get her learning as fast as I can, and you keep going to work to keep up appearances."

"Think they're watching us now?"

"Can't take the chance, right?"

She had a point. If they weren't watching, it wouldn't hurt anything to act like they are. On the other hand, if they are watching, acting like they're not was too risky.
