what's going on?
Engineering & Neuro-Psychoanalysis
Cathrin stood at the front of the lecture hall, facing a sea of expectant faces. This wasn't what she had signed up for. When she thought of psychology, she pictured role-plays, case studies, and real human interaction—not abstract theories and dense jargon. A friend had lured her here with the promise of "plenty of practical exercises," which explained why the room was packed to the brim. She didn't even know what "The Psychology of ENF" meant; a frantic Google search had spat out "Engineering & Neuro-Psychoanalysis," a term so dry it made her head spin. But she didn't care. She wanted something tangible.
So when the lecturer called her to the front, she went willingly. He gave her a long, studying glance before turning to the audience.
"In the first phase," he announced, his voice echoing off the walls, "the candidate has absolutely no idea what is coming for her. This state of blissful ignorance is absolutely vital for the later course of the experiment."
