Chapter 64 by Spidermind Spidermind

What is Zatanna like?

Energetic Witch

Sitting at a large, round table was a beautiful woman with heavy makeup, dark, silky hair, and a tight black dress.

Zatanna, the powerful sorceress, was smiling brightly, beckoning them both to come closer, and they did. There was no turning back now. She immediately hugged the blonde happily before speaking to her.

"Good evening, Karen. You look so beautiful, let me tell you, that dress suits you wonderfully. And how are you?" Zatanna said in a rather cheerful and lively voice.

"Oh, thank you very much, Z. I'm very well, and as you can see, I'm in good company," Karen replied, slightly blushing as she looked at Zack.

The witch's sparkling black eyes immediately fell on our protagonist, subtly scanning him from top to bottom, surely looking for anything out of the ordinary.

For a few seconds, Zack noticed a fleeting grimace of disapproval. He did it so quickly and skillfully that Karen didn't even notice. But Sex-Man had seen that expression on hundreds of girls' faces when he spoke to them.

"Hm... so you're the mysterious guy who's been entertaining my friend, are you...?" Z said, extending his hand and recovering his smile in a blink.

He could well guess what was going through the witch's mind: "How can someone without a shred of attractiveness make a powerful and sexy hero fall in love with her? She could be with any man if she wanted." That didn't discourage Zack, since he knew very well that this was just the beginning. He cordially shook their hands as well.

"Burning... Henry Burning, nice to meet you. Karen talked a lot about you," our protagonist said gently.

As a precaution, they had agreed that Zack would NOT reveal his real name, so he could protect his identity and be very useful in the future.

"Zatara, Zatanna, the pleasure is all mine too. I've been looking forward to meeting you."

Discreetly, she released a small dose of her pheromones; thanks to her enhancements, she hoped the sorceress would be able to lower his defenses. She could see a faint glimmer in his eyes, indicating he was on the right track, although it was too early to tell.

“Well, since we’re here, it’s time for dinner... if you don’t mind, I’ll order for you,” Zatanna said.

“No problem for me. And you, Karen?”

“None, Henry.”

The three of them sat down, with the blonde right next to Zack while the witch sat at the opposite end. When dinner was served, along with a bottle of whiskey, they ate heartily while continuing to chat.

Just as Power Girl had told him, Zatanna was a very pleasant person; she radiated joy with every word she spoke. She was the kind of person who brightened a room with her cheerful personality, making her very easy to talk to.

“It’s nice to see you so happy, Karen. I can’t remember the last time I saw you smile like that,” Zatanna said as she saw them holding hands.

“Neither can I. These few days by his side have been magnificent,” Karen said, her face clearly blushing.

“And out of curiosity... Where did you meet?” Z asked elegantly, before taking a sip of her drink.

Both Karen and Zack had anticipated this type of question, having rehearsed it several times in the Fortress, yet she was very skilled at hiding any hint of interrogation.

“You see, I was flying by one night as usual when I saw Henry falling off the bridge...” the Krytonian began, drinking as if it were a mere anecdote.

“Yeah, I didn't feel very well that night, and before I knew it, I was falling to my ****,” Zack added, also sipping his drink.

The witch raised her eyebrows in amazement at the pair’s story.

“Wow... so you knew Karen's secret identity from the start,” Zatanna said softly.

“Yeah... I saved him with my speed, and the moment we locked eyes, something magical ignited between us... it was like love at first sight,” Karen continued.

"It sounds very romantic," Z whispered, her face flushed.

"It was. She took me home and... and... well, you can imagine the rest," Zack said this time.

"A night of lots of sex, I guess," Zatanna blurted out, staring at Zack with a smirk.

Now Power Girl's face was like a red light, so excited was she that she bit her lip and looked down.

"Oh, sorry, I was too forward."

"No, no, it's okay. At this point, there's no point in hiding it... we made love all night and when I woke up, the first thing I saw were her beautiful blue eyes," our protagonist chimed in.

A mischievous giggle from the magician let Zack see that she was amused by the direction of the conversation, and the way she looked through his eyes while drinking let him know that she also sparked some interest.

"He he he... hmm... sex with Power Girl herself must feel lucky. Many would give an arm for an opportunity like that." Z lowered his tone, but it was enough.

By this moment, a small but significant change in the hero's attitude could be noticed. Sex-Man felt his pheromones taking effect; if he continued like this, the witch would fall for his charm.

"Hey, hey... I'm a lucky guy, that's all, but in my opinion, I'm no different from other men... right, Karen?" Zack said confidently, looking at his super girlfriend.

Seeing him, you could see the sparks of passion and love springing from his blue eyes. And there, in front of Zatanna, the duo kissed with an overwhelming fervor that impressed the witch.

"Wow... calm down, guys, there'll be time for that... mmm... although I'm a little curious about the veracity of your words, Henry," Zatanna said, licking her lips.

As they broke the kiss, Zack was even more convinced that his power was affecting the mage's judgment, just as it had with Power Girl and Poison Ivy... he was on the right track.

But at that instant, Zatanna's expression changed to a more serious one, as if she were about to face an enemy.

"Okay, enough with the games."

Chas!

With a snap, and suddenly the whole place froze as if on pause. Zack looked around to realize that everyone around him had vanished like smoke. Frightened, he turned to Karen to discover that she was petrified in a strange blue glow, staring into space. In turn, a kind of emerald spear enveloped Zack, tying his body to his chair.

"Relax, she'll be fine. It was just a small paralyzer I gave her in her drink... she'll return to normal when I decide," the mage said.

"What's going on?" our protagonist asked, confused.

"Just a few small adjustments so we can interact better with you."

The setting they were in kept changing until it became completely different. Zack realized they had fallen into a trap, and that wasn't Star Plus... It was somewhere else!

Where are they really?
