You notice Rebecca checking her phone again, her perfectly manicured thumb hovering over the screen as her brow furrows with professional concern. The sisterly bond between you feels strong now, but you can sense her divided attention.

"You should totally handle your work thing," you say, reaching out to touch her arm with genuine concern. "I'd, like, hate to be an inconvenience when you've already helped me so much."

Rebecca looks up, surprise flickering across her features. "Are you sure? I do need to approve a crisis plan..."

"Absolutely!" You nod enthusiastically, your pigtails bouncing. "Rick can help me finish up here. Business stuff is important!"

She hesitates, then squeezes your hand with unexpected warmth. "That's... surprisingly thoughtful of you."

"But!" You raise a finger, your expression brightening. "You should totally join us for dinner after! I'd love to hear about your day and stuff."

You bite your lip, your freckled cheeks flushing slightly as you add, "Plus, like... my dad was a complete deadbeat who was never around. So I know how special daddy-daughter time can be."

Something in Rebecca's eyes softens at your words. She studies you for a long moment, her professional armor cracking to reveal genuine emotion. Without warning, she pulls you into a tight hug.

"You're not at all what I expected," she whispers against your hair. When she pulls back, her eyes have a curious shine to them. "Dinner sounds perfect. I'll wrap this up as quickly as I can."

As Rebecca steps away to make her call, Rick approaches, eyebrows raised questioningly.

"Rebecca has work stuff," you explain, looking up at him with wide eyes. "I told her to go handle it and invited her to dinner with us after."

"Did you now?" Rick's expression is impressed. He watches his daughter pace near the window, phone pressed to her ear, her gestures sharp and authoritative – completely different from the warm woman who just hugged you. "She actually agreed?"

"Uh-huh!" You beam proudly. "We're, like, totally bonding."

Rick's arm slides around your waist, pulling you against his solid frame. You feel a flutter of arousal as his beard tickles your ear. "Clever girl," he murmurs. "You're full of surprises."

You giggle, pressing your small body against his larger one instinctively. When Rebecca glances over, she catches this intimate moment – your petite form nestled against her father's chest, his protective stance, your evident comfort together. Something crosses her face – not the disgust from earlier, but something more complex. For a brief moment, her gaze lingers on the curve of your neck, the way your eyelashes flutter when you laugh.

She quickly returns to her call, but not before you notice a slight flush coloring her cheeks.

"Now," Rick says, guiding you toward another rack of clothes, "let's pick out something for tonight's dinner, shall we? I'm thinking somewhere special to celebrate."

As you follow him through the boutique, you glance back at Rebecca. She's watching you over her shoulder while speaking rapidly into her phone, her eyes following the sway of your hips with an interest that seems to surprise even her.
