The next morning
Emma is on her phone
I wake up alone in bed. With a yawn I slowly pull myself up and out of bed, heading to the restroom to get ready for the day.
Stepping out of our bathroom, I see my wonderful girlfriend Emma has once again plopped herself on the living room couch, laying down while her fingers typed furiously.
Her fingers stopped, she waited for a response, and then giggled at whatever was sent.
“Hey babe!” I greeted.
“O-oh, John!” She lightly jumped in suspense, slamming her phone on the couch as she sat up. “You’re awake!”
“Yep. How’re you doing this morning?” I ask.
“Doing just fine!” She chuckled, pulling her phone close to her chest. “I was just texting…uh, Rebecca.”
“Rebecca?” I voice aloud, trying to remember which of her friends that was.
“She’s a new friend.” Emma quickly explained.
“You’re really good at making friends despite your shyness, you know.” I smile.
I’m so proud of her!
“Thanks…” Her voice trailed off as she checked her phone once more. Her eyes widened and she jumped to her feet.
“Everything okay?” I asked, worried from her sudden change in mood.
“Y-yeah, Rebecca just sent something surprising…” She muttered. “…I’m going to the bathroom!”
She rushed past me, entering the bathroom and slamming the door shut. I stood there for a moment, questioning what just happened. And were her cheeks a little red?
I feel like her face has been red often nowadays. Maybe I should get her some better sunscreen the next time I stop by the store…
I glance back at the bathroom door. With that reaction, something major must’ve happened to Rebecca. I could practically taste the gossip. Honestly, I was quite curious.
I really shouldn’t, but I want to listen in…
