Emily decides to tell Chris about her serum

Emily decides to let her lab tech Chris in on what's been going on. She picks up donuts on the way to work to use as an ice breaker, and to celebrate her successful experiment. Once she gets to the lab she sends him a text to meet her in the break room for a progress update. She drink some coffee while she waits, trying not to feel too nervous about the upcoming conversation.

Chris finishes up the project he was working on and heads to the break room. "Ooh, donuts, what's the occasion?" He asks Emily.

Emily can't hold back her grin. "I made a breakthrough." She announces. "On the serum I was working on last week. With promising results already." She announces.

"Wow, really?" Chris says, trying not to get too excited. "I didn't notice any difference in the test subjects this morning."

"I didn't test it on a rat." Emily admits, feeling a rush of anxiety at the admission that she experimented on her own body. "I tested it on myself."

Chris drops his doughnut, his jaw goes slack, he can't believe what he's hearing. "You what!?" He asks incredulously.

"I tested it on myself." Emily repeats. "I had a hunch and it paid off." She sips her coffee innocently.

"But how would that even work? You never had a dick to begin with." Chris snaps, speaking more crudely to his boss than usual.

"That's the genius of it." Emily replies cockily. "Because I wasn't transformed by the infection my body isn't resistant to the serum."

Chris looks confused for a moment, until the truth of what she's saying dawns on him. "Are you serious? And it worked?"

Emily just nods, taking another sip of coffee with a smile on her face.

"So it doesn't work on men, but it does work on women?" Chris says out loud, considering the implications of that. Emily nods. "Does the serum lead to viable sperm production?" He inquires.

Emily shrugs. "That's what we've gotta figure out." She says. "I brought some samples we can test." She adds.

She can practically see the gears turning in her lab tech's head as he grapples with his curiosity. "Can I see it?" He asks at last.
