That's what comes to your mind but to be honest, it's not a huge change from her current position as your cousin. She's already an elder sister to you in many ways, but the biggest point is that Melanie and Greg would receive a new daughter.

While you are excited at this prospect, you understand the pains and shock value this would incur. Just like discovering their "long lost son", they would also feel incredibly emotional after this.

While thinking of how you want to approach this, you all end up sitting on the couch in the living room. Looking around, you don't see your "father" anywhere.

"Did dad go to work?" you ask.

Melanie nods, chuckling, "Of course he did silly. Even though you've just come back to us, he can't take off that easily from his work."

Suddenly, before any more questions could be thrown around, especially around the two new girls, Hannah could be heard crying from upstairs. This causes Melanie to sigh.

"Hold on sweetie, I have a lot of questions, but I've got to handle Hannah first. She probably wants her milk," Melanie explains, quickly moving to grab a bottle of milk from the fridge and then leaving upstairs to take care of her daughter. This gives you time to set up the play with Erica and Gemma.

Facing Erica, he begins. "So um...to answer your question, let's say you're the elder sister of mine, okay? I'm sure Melanie will accept you like a daughter."

Erica hums, before closing her eyes and shrugging. "I guess that's fine. Still, this is pretty interesting set up you got here, John. No wonder you had us halt our payments."

You nod, glad she understands. Of course, the most confused now was Gemma who finally spoke up, tugging your shoulder.

"I...I'm not sure if I understand what's going on here," she begins as she overhears the conversation with you and Erica, "...Is this not your real family?"

"Well, they aren't, to be honest," you admit, not wanting to deceive the police girl too much, "...but as I said to Erica, they've accepted me like their son, so I would prefer if it's kept like that, okay?"

Gemma hums, looking down, her eyes conflicted. "...but, why would they accept Erica as their daughter?"

To her surprise, you shrug and give a reassuring smile, patting her shoulder. "It's...well, let's just say their open to having more children, old or young. Why? Do you want to become my little sister?"

Gemma widens her eyes, shocked that she's even given a suggestion like that. Honestly, you figure there's no harm in adding her to the family as well. For Erica, being the eldest felt right considering her real-life role to you, but Gemma could easily be the little sister type.

To your defense, you are only giving this freedom to Gemma because Erica suggested she be given a role in the "family". As far as you knew, Gemma would still be your new girlfriend that you wanted to hug all the time, but she also fit the bill perfectly as the little sister-type. Of course, if she's too uncomfortable with it, you won't push.

Somehow, Gemma is a little special to you. You've been playing around with people hearts, but you genuinely love this police girl. She's simply adorable.
