Chapter 10 by Whitey_V Whitey_V

What's next?

Early morning start

With much grunting and groaning, George had rolled out of bed. Today was to be a long day. He put on his heavy boots and clipped his walkie talkie to his belt. George usually started his mornings by going to the office where the fellow custodians resided. Everyone from janitors, cleaners and of course, handymen, would come there. It wasn’t so much as an office as it was a dark room at the back of the main schoolbuilding. The room was hidden in the basement where most of the school storage also was. In the mornings George would go there to socialize with his colleagues, whom he most of the time, didn’t get to see. He was always so busy, running around the Brightsdale College grounds that he never really had time to Catch up. Today he decided to go there and have a cup of coffee with everyone strolling through.

George arrived at the school building, he parked his golf cart and ran up the tall stairs, leading up to the open front doors. Inside he was giving the option of many hallways and staircases. All of them leading towards classrooms and offices. Instead of following one of the George took the stairs down to the basement. It was around 7.30 AM, so not many people would be joining his company. He was usually the earliest awake, having to be on-call at all times incase something went wrong, He’d gotten used to it overtime, but in the beginning of working at the school, he had real problems with being woken up in the middle of the night to fix some broken door or busted lightbulb. The students living on campus had a natural ability to destroy anything and everything they could get their hands on. Especially the football players, with most of them being absolute meatheads, it was only a matter of time until they broke something again. George had gotten quite friendly with most of them, even being invited to the football match that would be happening tonight on campus. He would have loved to have gone, but every student from both Brightsdale and the opposing teams college: Newgrove, would be on campus partying all night. With partying always came the aftermath of destruction. Doors busted open, chairs and tables broken, windows, beds and everything not bolted to the ground would be at risk. George was going to have a long night ahead of him.

Now sitting in the office at a small table, sipping his coffee with his feet up. George looked around the empty room. It seemed as though his colleagues thought it to be way too early and had decided to roll over one more time. George shrugged his shoulders and picked up his walkie talkie, he asked his boss who spent his time upstairs in a much fancier office, with a desk and carpeted floors, if he had any assignments lined up. No answer on the other line, George was going to have to go at it alone. He grabbed his phone to check his emails. The school had sat up an email address where the students could send slightly less urgent jobs to him. Whenever his boss hadn’t gotten any calls, he would work his way down that list of people needing stuff done.

What's his next move?
