Dwarven Hospitality

Leaving the three Dwarves to their fun, Yulia et al head down the lantern lit path to a strange area. The ground here is soft dirt, as opposed to the rocky ground of the rest of the caves, water trickles from the ceiling above and in the dirt a small patch of crops have been planted and grown. They seem to be a mixture of herbs and root vegetables. Goma confirms that indeed she can make use of the herbs and so together the three women harvest the herbs and the vegetables before leaving. When they exit the lantern path, the three Dwarves are now engaged in pretty intense sex, one of the women being bent over the edge of the spring and railed from behind while the other is simply hugging the Dwarf man from behind as he bangs the other one. Yulia, Cherchiel and Goma hesitate, watching the display for a bit before moving on.

They continue onwards and pass through more winding tunnels before exiting into a small underground town. Much smaller than Aresque, it's a simple, almost rustic space in comparison. Small huts made out of hewn stone, some decorated with gemstones, but mostly unadorned. Dwarves mill about the area, talking or performing chores. There are Dwarves on guard as well, wearing heavy metal armor and carrying large battle axes. The place seems to be mostly just residential buildings, but you see there's a home with a large anvil and forge outside and assume that to be the blacksmith, there's another structure, slightly larger than the others that seems to be very popular, plenty of Dwarves hanging out near it. Some of them seem a bit unsteady on their feet and two of them seem to be yelling at each other in loud voices with slurred speech, lastly there's a large, gemstone adorned structure near the back of the hold that seems to be the equivalent of city hall or a palace. Presumably the Dwarf leader is in there.

Assuming that the leader would be the best person to talk to about the mines, Yulia heads to the city hall. More guards stand at the entrance and glare intimidatingly at Yulia and the others as they approach, but make no move to prevent them from entering. Inside they find a long line. Multiple Dwarves are waiting in a queue in front of a small desk, behind which sits a Dwarf woman. Yulia begin to approach, but the woman yells at them, "get into line and wait patiently like the rest!" and so they turn back and get into the line. It feels like hours pass as the Dwarf woman slowly calls people up to the counter, speaks to them and then directs them to somewhere past the desk. Eventually Yulia and the others reach the desk and the Dwarf woman speaks, "Reason for visit?"

"Um..." Yulia says as she tries to think about what exactly she wanted to ask, "questions and permissions related to the Deep Mines?" she asks finally.

"Alright... You'll need to talk to the head of Mining and Mine Activities... Follow the blue line," she directs them. They pass the desk and indeed there are multiple coloured lines painted on the floor. A red, an orange, a blue and a green line. They follow the blue line to another desk and unfortunately another line. They spend more time waiting in this line before reaching the front where a grizzled old Dwarf waits for them.

"Forms?" he asks.

"Um... We just wanted... wait... Forms?" Yulia asks and the Dwarf rolls his eyes.

"You were supposed to pick up a form at the front when you entered the building. I can't help you if you don't have the form..." he says and Yulia stares at him and then sighs and her and the others head back to the front and find that they indeed missed a table with a number of forms on them. The forms are color coded and written in Dwarvish which none of them can read.

"Which one do we need?" Yulia asks and Cherchiel sighs.

"I don't know... Goma do you know?"

"Nope..."

The three women sigh and get back into the first line, reach the desk after another long wait and are again in front of the Dwarf Woman, "What do you need?"

"Um which form were we supposed to grab?"

"That depends on what you need,"

"Mining and Permissions?" Yulia states and the woman sucks in a breath.

"Ooh... You'll need to ask the bureaucratic authority... Go to the orange line," she says and Yulia takes a deep breath, restraining herself before she quietly trudges past the desk and follows the orange line this time. Of course again there's another long wait in line before they reach the desk and this time they're met by an extremely irritably chipper Dwarf Women.

"HELLO! How can I help you fine folks!" she asks.

"Forms... Mining... Which ones?" Yulia states through gritted teeth.

"Oh hm.. Well... What day is it today..." she says and begins to search her desk seemingly looking for something, "ah seems I misplaced my calendar, just give me a few seconds..." she says as she begins to search around her desk. After a short time she gives up, "looks like I'll need to requisition a new calendar..." she says apologetically. I can't leave my post though so could you do that. You'll need a blue form for requisitions," she says and Yulia is seething now as she leaves, goes to the form table. Grabs a blue form. Waits in line again to reach the first desk, is told to follow the green line for requisitions, waits in another line, reaches a desk with a young gloomy male Dwarf who mercifully just gives her a calendar. She then heads back, waits in another long line, gets to the chipper Dwarf Women and gives her the calendar, is told that since it's a day ending in an even number in a month that has an odd number of letters in the name she'll need the green form and heads back to the form table. Gets a green form, waits in line again, reaches the Mining and Mining Activities head and hands him the form. He stamps the form and then nods,

"alright, what do you need?"

"Can we have permission to enter the deep mines and mine there?" Yulia asks.

"Yes," he responds.

"What... Just... Yes? Do we need some kind of permit or something?" she asks.

"Of course not. You're the chosen. Just go in and do what you want, no one's going to stop you," he says with a chuckle as if Yulia was making a funny joke. Yulia stares at him then turns silently and walks back outside, before screaming loudly, her scream echoing around the cavern, many Dwarves glance over and she hears a nearby Dwarf chuckle.

"Ah... Bureaucracy..."

The good news is it seems they can go mining whenever they want.
