During Her Trip to Hawaii

In the bustling airport terminal, Kasumi alongside the rest of her classmates were getting off the plane after a long seven hour flight. The excitement in the air was palpable as the students waited to grab their bags from the conveyor belt. Kasumi spotted her own, a small, red suitcase that matched the color of her hair. She pulled it off the conveyor belt and joined the rest of the class, waiting for Kawakami to take them to the busses that would take them to their hotel. Eventually the busses arrived and everyone hopped on looking for a good seat, Kasumi sat down near the back of the bus and looked out the window as the bus started to pull out of the parking lot and toward the hotel.

The bus ride to the hotel was a blur of scenery and chatter. Kasumi sat next to a girl from class who she was pretty close to, who couldn't stop talking about the beach and the boys they were bound to meet. Kasumi listened with a smile, adding the occasional nod or laugh when it seemed appropriate, but her mind was elsewhere. She had never left the mainland of Japan. This school trip to Hawaii was a big deal, and she wasn't quite sure what to expect. She hoped it would be a trip to make long lasting memories and prayed that nothing goes wrong like a sudden storm appearance,

As the bus pulled up to the hotel, Kasumi caught her first glimpse of the Hawaiian landscape. Palm trees swayed in the breeze, their fronds casting shadows on the pavement. The hotel was a massive complex of white buildings with massive open windows, surrounded by the lush, tropical greenery. Above it all, the sky was a beautiful shade of blue. Kasumi took a deep breath, inhaling the salty scent of the ocean and blooming flowers. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced. Kawakami told everyone to head inside and wait to be told what their room numbers are. As Kasumi stepped inside she was met with a woman with a flower tucked behind her ear as she handed her a flower necklace. Kasumi happily took the necklace and placed it around her neck, taking in the beautiful different colors of the flowers. She couldn't wait to see what the week had in store for her.
