Chapter 7 by SquashedFlat SquashedFlat

Been What?

...Dumped In An Alleyway.

Texas awoke to find herself staring up at the morning stars, framed by two buildings on either side of the alleyway, creating a corridor of sky. Groaning loudly she sat up and clutched her head, startling a raccoon in a nearby bin, and coughed out a few wisps of Lucy's gas. Whether it was from the **** the skunk had put in her drink or the fumes filling her lungs, Texas's head ached like the world's worst hangover, but her anger pierced right through that.

Lucy...

Texas had given the skunk a chance, and Lucy had betrayed her, taking her money, her dignity, and almost her mind. With a snarl Texas pushed up to her feet, ignoring the splitting pain of her head, and reached for her gun, planning to storm back inside and arrest the while lot of them. However, as her hand fell onto the carved wooden grip of her revolver, she felt soft paper under her fingers. Looking down, she noticed a gently folded note had been tied delicately to the grip of her pistol with a perfumed purple ribbon, and the weasel's fingers deftly plucked it free, beginning to read.

"Dear Texas... Thank you for the unforgettable night, but a deal's a deal, so here is your information. My girls have heard very little about who could be behind these disappearances, which can only mean one thing: Molly."

The weasel stopped reading as a cold shiver rushed down her spine. While she treated all of her foes with a cautious unease, the only one she could admit to being outright scared by was Molly. The rat commanded forces beyond the sheriff's comprehension, and on top of that she commanded a small army of spies, and operated out of a nigh-impenetrable lair that no-one had ever returned from. Still, there were citizens in danger, and Texas couldn't allow her fear to be an impediment to her duty.

"I'm sure you know what that means. She'll have no doubt re-established her usual labyrinthine base beneath the old Silver Lakes ghost town, and while I would advise you to stay away, we both know that you'll jump in with both feet as always. Just be careful, and know that your untimely demise would be... Inconvenient. Good luck. Love, Lucy."

Texas grumbled as she looked over the paper, still considering going and arresting Lucy. Molly was clearly the biggest threat, but Lucy had ****, kidnapped and assaulted the town sheriff, a course of action that demanded a response. Still, wasting time here could mean that those who had disappeared were suffering from Molly's clutches... And besides, who knows what embarrassing **** photos Lucy had taken while the weasel was out cold... Texas shuddered at the thought, but she needed to make a decision: Lucy or Molly?

The Skunk Or The Rat?
