Dueling Tryouts

Sighing you finished up your last class for the evening the twins had given you a test and while their latest labs and quizzes had worn down their other students you weren’t their other students you excelled in all of your classes earning top marks in nearly everything except Dr. Haass’s Dark Art Class in fact in that class no matter how long you studied or worked the highest grade you got was a passing C and he always disappeared before you could even talk to him.

Despite this the headmaster was quite pleased with your proficiency in your other subjects sadly though this came with a cost as it only further made you an outcast as many students simply got angry and tried to bully you into doing their work for them thankfully that is where your white knight came to your defense quite literally a few times in fact but despite this you were happy for the first time in your life things were going great and as planned you hoped to one day get a girlfriend and have sex but for now you were happy to simply have a place in society after so many years of running you finally had a place to call home. As the clock ran out the Twins finally finished their lecture for the night wished you a happy winter break and like that you were done no more school for the next 3 weeks you could hardly believe it yourself no classes or studying or any kind of work for three weeks. Smiling you bid the twins farewell before packing it all up and heading home with your knight following close to your side. As your home came into sight you took out your keys and unlocked the door entering the dorm along with your knight before shutting yourself in the dorm for the day. Setting your backpack down you found a poster for the dueling tryouts on your bulletin board since you had no formal dueling training you had practiced with the cards you had been given by yourself practicing against the dueling trainers at the academy but for the most part had been self-taught and trained seeing as how none of the coaches wanted to teach you anything. Looking the paper over you sighed and thought to yourself why not. Taking your deck of dueling cards you left your dormitory with your knight following closely behind you as you made your way to the dueling arena.

You saw many people were watching as students drew cards summoning giant beasts such as cyclops and werewolves and fought tooth and nail trying to beat their opponents into submission. As you got closer and closer to the entrance the sounds of fighting only got louder and louder before long you stood at the stand the man simply growled as he handed you a sign up sheet before walking away. You filled out the sheet as best as you could before waiting in line like the others.

Before long you were called up and then lo and behold the same blond haired bastard who had beaten you up stood across from you deck in hand smiling in sadistically before drawing a card and summoning a three headed dog obviously it was his house wildcard as each house had a wildcard that members could all use in this case you were guessing he was a House Cerberus member.

Sighing you drew your card summoning a simple wraith a black spirit simply rose from the ground standing in front of you. Your opponent simply used his wand to cast a fireball at your wraith which simply passed through it harmlessly. For someone who seemed tough you guess he wasn’t the brightest. Drawing your own wand you summoned a blade of undying into your wraith’s hands before your opponent summoned a gang of goblins who charged forth and tried to fight the wraith only to be cut down. Drawing another card you summoned a dark archer a man in a cloak as black as night stood in front of you. Seeing himself at a disadvantage your opponent summoned an iron golem tall and powerful. Drawing another card you summoned a graveyard which reanimated the dead goblins now in front of your wraith and against your opponent. Angry your opponent ordered his golem to charge drawing your wand and a rune you had made you launched it at the golem placing a simple purple rune on the golem as it killed the last of the goblins.

Your opponent drew another card summoning a pirate shipwreck to the side of the three headed Cerberus. You drew your wand once more and launched another rune at the golem as it slowly made its way to your wraith. Your opponent then summoned an army of skeletons which began making their way to you. Finally your launched a final rune at the golem which changed its once yellow eyes to purple before turning around and facing your opponent. Soon a purple card appeared in your deck before the golem was destroyed by your opponent banishing the card. Smiling you drew the purple card to which out of the graveyard stood a corroded and still strong iron golem. Angry your opponent drew another card summoning a stone golem before having his stone golem and army of skeletons prepare to attack. Drawing another card you summoned a dark paladin with black armor, a shield and mace the paladin stood in front of the dark archer shield raised. The next turn your opponent attacked golem and and army of skeletons together with the pirate ship wreck firing cannon balls as your graveyard kept raising the dead and the battle yard became clouded in a fog of dust.

The dust settled soon revealing only the three headed Cerberus still standing and nothing on your side. Sighing you drew your wildcard in preparation for a stand while you had more cards you could see that your opponent was preparing for a final ****. Drawing forth your wildcard the grim reaper tall and menacing stood scythe and all with their back towards you facing your opponent. Your opponent looked shocked for a moment before summoning a large army of zombies to charge forth and end your wildcard. You simply commanded the reaper to move forward. The reaper did as asked and in a single movement of their scythe eliminated the army of zombies in one motion. Angered your opponent sent his wildcard charging against your reaper before you smiled. Launching a simple purple activation spell purple chains emerged from the ground trapping the three headed Cerberus before the grim reaper finished the job in a single motion and like that the duel tryout was over.

Collecting your cards the reaper turned to you and hummed a familiar tune as it descended back into the ground. After gathering your cards you signed your sheet once more marking the details of you victory before heading home tomorrow you would hear news of what would become of these tryouts.
