Duck into the nearest shop

Though you are clear of immediate danger, you still worry that one of the guards might catch up to you if you let your guard down. This street isn't the widest thoroughfare in town but it is bustling enough that you are getting a few strange looks from passers-by.

You look around you, seeing if there's anywhere along these nearby buildings that you could hide in for a while. Maybe you could ask for a job or to stay in a spare room, but at minimum you just need to get out of view.

Luckily for you, there is a small smithy just up the street from you. The small wooden sign over the door has only the outline of an anvil on it, with no name to indicate who runs the shop. The large wooden door beneath looks thick and heavy. It looks like there isn't much traffic coming in or out, and a steady stream of smoke coming out of a small chimney shows that there is work going on inside.

You hurry over and turn the handle on the door. Simply pushing on the door normally doesn't budge it at all. You place your other hand on the door and try again, not getting any response. The third time, you turn the handle with both hands and shove your shoulder into the door. With a grunt, your entire weight forces the door to slam open and you nearly tumble over as you stagger inside.

Once inside, the warmth of the furnace in the back is obvious and the sounds of metal being worked on ring out to the street, at least until the door shuts again behind you. The entire place is filled with displays of craftsmanship, tools hung up on racks along the walls, and loose papers filling almost every desk. Directly across from the front door is a burly man seated at one of those very messy desks.

When he notices you gawking at the shop, he gruffly asks you, "What's your business here, miss?"
