Driving to the gym

The memories come flooding back in a rush.

There hadn't been anything special about the day. You'd dropped the kids at school and you were heading to the gym to resume your daily battle with time and gravity. Later you planned meet your friend Karen for lunch and after that you needed to talk to the gardener about replanting the borders. Destiny had other plans for you though. As you drove your SUV across the junction you heard a roar of engines and a blaring horn. You just had time to catch a glimpse of a huge radiator grill baring down on you and then...

And then nothing, darkness, the void, then here.

"Oh shit," you breathe an uncharacteristic curse "I was in an accident! My goodness, was it serious? I hope no one was badly hurt..."

The old man's face looks suddenly serious and you get a sinking feeling as he tells you just how serious it was...
