Drink the potion

You decide to drink the potion. If you want to collect all the ingredients for the potion you’re brewing, you need to return to work as soon as possible. You pick up the small glass that Madam Pomfrey’s holding out to you. The liquid inside is a bright green that doesn’t look natural.

You take a sniff of the concoction and immediately wish you hadn’t the potion smells like old socks. You gulp, pushing down your nausea, then you hold your nose and drink the potion in one gulp. The potion tastes like it smells but you manage not to focus on it. The liquid sinks through you and you feel it settle in your stomach. For a few moments, the nausea you had felt redoubles.

All of a sudden, your nausea and all your aches and pains ease up. You feel like you could easily run a marathon or climb a mountain. You grin widely at Madam Pomfrey and Ron.

“That’s a great potion”, you say. “Well, except for the smell and taste.”

Madam Pomfrey shows you a rare smile.

“Off you go”, she says. “Get a good meal and try not to hurt yourself again.”

You nearly sprint to the Great Hall, Ron trying valiantly to keep up with you. Luckily, breakfast has just started. You throw yourself down in the first space you see and begin to shovel food into your mouth. Ron joins you a moment late, breathing heavily.

“So”, he says, putting food on his plate. “How did you hurt yourself this time?”

You begin to tell Ron about your misadventures, making sure never to actually say what you’re in search of. By the time you’re done, there’s a group of Gryffindors surrounding you. Ron looks a bit stunned.

“You don’t do things by half-measure”, he says.

You’re reminded that you still need to find some more potion ingredients. You excuse yourself and return to the Room of Requirement.
