Vanessa let you in, and goes to the kitchen to make some coffee and biscuits, while both of you keep the conversation factual. You update her on your life, and how your new job is amazing. When she comes back, you try to get back into Brian: "So, what happenned, he did not show up to work, I got worried"

Vanessa became more uncomfortable, and first tried to avoid the question, but some more pushes making her remember the "good old days" got her to say something: "Well, I don't know...
