Chapter 4

Where does he look for answers?
Downstairs.
Dago wasn’t sure what was behind the door, but he figured he’d get answers and an exit quicker downstairs. He walked downstairs and looked around at where he was. There were several benches lined up facing what looked like a religious alter. Dago paused for a moment, frowning. He was in a church, which would explain why he felt so much pain when he walked in. He tightened his grip around the sheet and kept moving, painfully aware of how ridiculous it would look to be caught naked in a church.
“Stop right there!” called a shaky female voice behind him, “Don’t move, demon, or I’ll fry you!”
Dago halted immediately. They knew he was a demon, which wasn’t good. Apparently, they knew magic, too. He was double fucked at this point, no way to get out as far as he could see, so he had to try to talk his way out of this.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude, I’ll leave you alone, no harm done,” he said, trying to sound confident and not like he thought he might die again.
“I don’t believe you, put up your hands, show me you’re unarmed!” the voice demanded, just barely a squeak.
If Dago showed his hands to her, he’d probably drop the sheet. He sighed, this was a sticky predicament.
Drop the sheet?
