Dorky, boyish outfit

Lauren had shown up to work without changing. And, unfortunately, she'd been wearing a rather unfortunate outfit last night. In the comfort of her own house she hadn't worn her Spanx or padded bra. She also slipped off her designer clothes and threw on her most comfortable clothes. Unfortunately, those clothes consisted of an old Spongebob shirt from childhood, poofy blue shorts and that was it! She was at work in the least glamours, least flattering clothes she owned!

Still unaware of her mistake, Lauren hurried through the kitchen. She was so distracted she didn't even notice that she was barefoot as she walked through the kitchen, missing the snickering of the cooks. Lauren emerged into the restaurant proper. Instantly Danielle, the busser who Lauren had passed over for a promotion to waitress saw Lauren and noticed her outfit and diminished figure. Danielle's jaw dropped. Then she covered her mouth, trying to contain her laughter.

Lauren saw her workplace rival looking at her and glowered back.

"What?" Lauren asked. "What are you looking at?"

"Oh, um... you forgot we're supposed to tie our hair back!" Danielle said, thinking quick. "You don't want to get in trouble! Here, let me help."

Danielle grabbed on of the ballcaps they sold for advertising and pulled Lauren's hair back, tucking it under the hat and adding to her boyish appearance at the moment. Lauren flinched back.

"Thanks, but don't touch me." Lauren said sternly. Then she picked up her notepad and headed into the dining area...
