Don't Tell

"I don't know," you say, biting your lower lip, "I'm pretty sure she hates me, now more than ever, and she seems so bound and determined to be the best at everything and let everyone know it. So why would she EVER want a child with me? Or even a child at all?"

"A good question," Zizana replies and then she looks at you with the kind of look one gave when they did not fully believe you but had no real way to call you on it, "But if she were so determined to lord over her superiority, why risk making such a mistake as playing with the wording?"

"I don't know. Maybe she just wanted to show off and it came back to bite her?"

A wry smile briefly comes to your lips as you add, "Kind of like the match itself, really."

A "humph" that you are not sure is a grunt of agreement or a grunt of disapproval emanates from Zizana's throat before she asks, "So you believe it an accident then."

"It has to have been," you reply, even though there is a cold lump of worry in your guts that it was not.

Zizana sighs. "If that is how you wish to handle this," she says, "I'll let it go for now. Rest up... because you will have class tomorrow."

The professor turns and opens the curtain again, leaving them parted as she leaves.

A few hours later, the doctor gives you the all clear and you return to Wyvern House where you are barely in the front door before a slender blur all but rams into you, Amelia wrapping her arms around your waist. "You're okay!" she cries, hugging you so tightly you worry for a moment you may have to go right back to the infirmary.

Fortunately, she loosens her grip enough to a more casual hug as Viki, Liam, and Keira walk up to you a few steps behind her. "They filled us in on what happened," Liam said, a smile on his face, "Nice job on the win!"

"Your training was a big help," you reply, "So thanks for that."

"You're lucky that Viki caught that mistake before things got REALLY bad," Keira added, smiling at the shorter woman.

"Mistake?" you ask, curious to hear what Professor Zizana told them about what happened.

"Yeah," Amilia replies, "The professor told us Victor accidentally misspelled the rune that stands for 'have sex with' into something that was another phrase and while Viki didn't know exactly what it says, she picked up something was wrong when nobody else did!"

Okay, so the "Harmony either tried to get pregnant or something **** her to want to get pregnant" part of things is still under wraps.

"No..." Viki whispers, looking at her feet as her cheeks turn crimson, "I should have noticed what was wrong earlier. Before there was any trouble at all. I... I'm sorry."

You give Amelia a glance, the brown-haired girl momentarily frowning but letting you go as you step forward and surprise Viki by giving her a hug in turn. This causes her face to turn even more red and she stiffens slightly as you say, "Don't apologize. You did a good thing and I'm grateful."

Viki shudders at your words, licking her lips nervously and surprising everyone by softly asking, "How... grateful?"

All three of the others raise their eyebrows, though the rest of Amelia's body language makes her look almost... proud. You raise a hand up to teasingly stroke her hair as you reply, "How grateful do you want me to be?"

Viki suddenly pushes you away, biting her lower lip as her eyes dart around between you and the rest of your group. "I..." she stammers, "It doesn't have to be n-now! You're still recovering from last night and... I mean I--"

She sputters again... and then suddenly reaches into her vest pocket, pulling out a sealed pink envelope and thrusting it in your direction as she babbles, "Thatblondewiththepigtailsdroppedthisoffthismorningforyousoyoushouldreadit."

You take the envelope and blink as Viki turns and all but runs back to her room, though you notice she does not close the door all the way, meaning someone could just walk right up to it and walk in if they wanted to.

"We can talk more later tonight, bro," Liam says, "Me and my girl got some homework we need to finish up..."

"You mean YOU have homework you need to finish," Keira snaps, "I'm just making sure you're doing it right."

"Right," Liam grumbles before Keira drags him off towards the room you and Liam share.

Now alone with Amelia, she smirks at you. "She really will understand if you want to spend today recovering your strength, Stud," she says, "buuuut I will also say I've only ever seen her leave the door open like that when she wanted juuuuust one person to follow her."

Amelia pouts cutely before adding, "And I gotta hit up the library to double check something for tomorrow myself so I'm not sure how much fun I'd be if you wanted to keep hanging out."

It is true you are not feeling one hundred percent and tomorrow is Monday... which means your first five hour class with Professor Aspecta. Not to mention you should probably check out the letter Selena dropped off (or at least you are fairly confident it is from Selena if "the blonde with the pigtails" is a clue).

Then again, it would be kind of a dick move to turn down an invitation now that you know it is an invitation and you are kind of curious if Viki is making the kind of offer you think she is...
