Chapter 3 by namenotfound namenotfound

What animal did you pick?

Dog

"That's the most popular choice." She continues typing things into her computer.

You don’t mind her response as the popularity of your choice almost comforts you. As crazy as this whole things seems, you went with what you thought would be the most “normal” choice.

"I just need you to sign here." She says, placing a stack of papers on the desk.

You stare down at the pile of at least ten pages as she hands you a pen.

"What is it for?" You ask, knowing there's no way you're going to stand there and read all of it.

"A pretty standard agreement, mainly for insurance purposes." She says casually flipping through the pages until landing her finger on the dotted line. "The main point is that while you are here, you agree to do all you can to uphold the integrity of the resort."

You don't see the point in asking more questions as you are already here and have already paid, so you quickly jot down your signature.

"Excellent!" The lady at the desk says as she quickly takes the papers and brings them over to the filing cabinet behind her.

She opens the cabinet placing the papers inside before reaching in as if she's taking something back out.

“I’m just starting you with the basics.” She says, pulling something out of the cabinet. She soon places what seems to be a red leather collar and a matching leash. “Your owner will decide if they want to add more gear or not.”

“My what?” You ask, those words suddenly sinking into your brain.

“Your owner.” She repeats as she begins to walk around the counter. “We wouldn’t let strays have their own room.”

As you begin to think you maybe should have read those papers, the woman approaches you, swiftly wrapping the collar around your neck. You wince slightly as she clasps it into place, it rests tightly, but not to an uncomfortable level.

"Now, before we get your leash on, please remove all of your cloths and get on all fours." She says, still giving you a big customer service smile.

"Wait? Here? Now?" You ask, unsure if you are surprised by the request itself or for how casually she gave it.

"It would be pretty strange if a dog was walking on their hind legs fully dressed in people's clothes, now wouldn't it." She says "That would definitely go against the integrity of the resort." She's still smiling but you notice a more serious look in her eyes.

You look around this open lobby you're standing in. It's now you realize you may have not thought this whole vacation through. Should you risk the embarrassment and do what she says? Or maybe you could talk your way out of it? You could always just refuse, what's the worst that could happen?

What do you do?
