Chapter 9 by protoborg protoborg

What was the dream?

Doesn't really matter

Stacy slept peacefully, not knowing that this time she had pushed the developer one too many times. Landgraabe Developments was tired of having to find new crews to clear the trees in the forest. The company had purchased the land for quite a tidy sum and they wanted to make their money back as soon as possible. Stacy's little stunt had finally convinced management to go further in quelling the resistance to the new residential development. As such, the crew Stacy had "scared off" was actually just a decoy. As soon as she had headed back into the forest, Landgraabe's plan had gone into effect. Now, with Stacy none the wiser, the team of professional trackers were already combing the forest for her. Their task was a simple one; find her, kill or capture her, and report back. The trackers had no intention of killing her, but they certainly weren't stupid enough to think she would go quietly either.

Stacy continued to sleep peacefully as the trackers moved closer to her little hiding spot. One of the trackers even managed to find her private little watering hole where she had bathed earlier. He snickered at the fact that she clearly had no clue just how much she had polluted it with her bathing. The mud still floated on the surface of the water along with nearly a dozen dead fish. For a "tree hugger", she was not very good at understanding nature. The teams closed in around her narrowing the "noose". By the time the sun was coming up again, they had her trapped. One tracker signaled the rest and they sprang their trap. She didn't even have time to scream as they muzzled and tied her. Before long, they were leaving the woods with their bounty trussed up like a Christmas ham. As they passed the construction site, Stacy could see that the workers she had "scared off" the previous day were grinning at her as they got to work.

Stacy tried to scream at them but it only came out muffled and pathetic. The tracker carrying her looked down at her at laughed loudly at her struggle. "Well, that's what you get for costing a major company so much money and time. Next time, maybe you won't be so quick to break shit."

She just struggled more as she was tossed like a sack of potatoes into the back of a van. As the door shut, she started to cry. She had thought she was doing so much good for the forest, only to have it blow up in her face. Now the trees and animals were doomed.

What now, Stacy?
