Chapter 18

Well..... What do you do now?
Dodge!
In the blink of an eye, the ogre swings its club like a windmill at you. You are just fast enough to roll backwards before the heavy tree trunk comes over the ogre's head and down to smash the ground leaving a depression where you were standing. Armed only with your throwing knife, your options are limited. If only you were stronger! Yeah and if only if's and buts were candy and nuts, then no one would be hungry on Christmas.
As you spring back to your feet, you hurl your knife at the ogre and keep back peddling to put some distance between you and the beast.
Your knife hits the ogre in its left shoulder, but you might as well have been throwing sticks. The ogre didn't even notice the blow and keeps walking slowly towards you snarling.
You keep moving backwards away from the ogre. It might take you two days, but if you keep a distance and keep hitting him with the throwing knife, you might be able to kill the ogre. Crap chance of that happening.
When your knife reappears in your hand, you immediately throw it again. Your blow lands in the ogre's bicep as it raises its arm to defend itself.
You can't imagine why. The damage your doing to the monster could be compared to a flea bite. You need another plan, you think to yourself. Maybe you could-
The ogre suddenly rushes forward closing the distance between you and it with such speed you don't have time to react. Before you can even scream the ogre lifts you off the ground in one hand around the midsection with your arms and wings pinned inside its grasp. You can't do anything. You helplessly kick your legs like a hanged man on the gallows.
The ogre roars into your face. Its hot breath is an unbearable stench as globs of saliva blows past you. When its roar finally ends, its face is still a snarl and squeezes you harder. Your HP drops a few points. You know this monster could kill you any second, but you won't give it the satisfaction of scaring you. You look up at the beast, still defiant as when you started this suicide mission, and spit into his face.
Brilliant move. Enraged, the ogre swings you through the air. Your face hits branches and leaves as you are swung like a child's doll. Then it draws back and throws you towards a massive oak tree. You fly spinning on multiple axis's, but manage to spread your wings like a parachute and stop before hitting the tree. It was a brilliant move! Your feet gracefully land against the trunk as if your escape had been planned this way the entire time. The trunk is almost as wide as your wing span. You grab a handful of bark and hang there.
Another roar from behind you lets you know the ogre is still if not more pissed now. The campfire is starting wane and the area is getting darker as the wood is being burned up. You need to do something if you're going to keep that fountain of HP from disappearing.
You turn back to the ogre while still hanging from the trunk and blow a raspberry at it antagonizing it even more. Another roar. The ogre flexes its massive arms and beats its chest challenging you to physical combat.
You look around and see Lydia and Shana still on the ground not moving. Well, hero what do you say?
Do you accept the ogre's challenge?

Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
