Doctor Young begins to feel tired.

The Entity instinctively worked its way from Doctor Youngs nostrils to his brain where it nestled against his hippocampus. Microscopic tentacles grew as it attached itself their as it sought knowledge and nourishment from his brain.

The Entity tentatively began to use Doctor Young to understand this place it found itself in. A place currently as unknowable to it as this world could ever hope to understand the creature awakened from beyond known time and space.

It began to try to make a sense of Humanity, its desires and drivers. Its hubris, its achievements, its cruelty and failings. They seemed to think themselves above animals yet were still driven by the need for sex and **** determine which were allowed to pass their genetic code to further generations.

This planet, Mars, was not humans native world. It was newly colonised with only a thousand settlers having made the journey so far. All living in artificial domes to protect them from the lack of breathable air. They were weak creatures and did not belong to this world.

Their world was a mess of conflicting peoples, ideologies and cultures all vying for power.

The Entity felt that these beings would welcome the Unity it could bring to this species. They would serve it and find a way to bring its greater consciousness through from the Darkness.

Fatigue quickly overcame Doctor Young as his mind struggled to focus on his work and instead drifted to strange corners of his mind. He returned to his quarters from his laboratory. As he walked he passed other humans and he couldn't help but stare at them. Curiously he found himself wondering why they only had two legs and two arms, they could all travel so much more efficiently if they had more limbs.

When he returned to his room in the single males quarter of the settlement he collapsed on his bed and fell into a deep slumber.
