Chapter 2 by Arthor Thomarius Arthor Thomarius

What is Michael's latest project?

Djinncumon: A Game That Will Change The World (And Its Player)

It had taken Michael a lot of time and patience figuring out how to encode complex magical rituals that had required incense, chanting, dancing, musical instruments, and a liberal amounts of animal sacrifices into a digital format that could run on a semiconductor and feed on electricity. There had been times when Michael Benson thought that devoting his genius to unraveling the secret powers of Pre-Atlantean sorcerers and turning their magic into software programs was insane and a waste of his time. But then one day, after examining a rock he found on the beach with his aetheric quantitator, Michael noticed a pattern in the invisible runes that gave him that eureka moment.
He had tested the prototype on some strangers at a theme park he had taken his kids to one summer day. One moment a couple of newly weds were posing for a photo I offered to take for them. One moment the young man and his beautiful bride were posing for a picture, the next they had vanished as if edited out of reality.

Michael had enjoyed playing with them when he got home. They belonged to him, mind, body, and soul. Michael never bothered to learn the names of his test subjects. He used them to push the limits of what he could inflict upon a human spirit bound by the power of his technosorcery, enjoying their humiliation and despair along the way.
Michael went through five more test subjects before he had perfected his interplanar manaplastic surgical techniques and refined them into viable programs.
"With these magic apps. The world and its people are mine to play with! Bwahahahahaahahaa!" Michael Benson laughed maniacally as he spoke to the seven souls he had captured, twisted, mutated, and surgically altered on a spiritual level into being that were barely sane and hardly human.

"Dad. Mom said dinner is ready. She said 'final stages or not. Seven o clock is dinner time.' She had that mad voice when she said it to." Daphne Benson called down to her father in his basement work station.
Michael let out a sigh. He might be the future ruler of the world, but angering his wife was something Michael was not about to start doing now after twenty five years of marriage.

Welcome, To the world of Djinncumon, learn what exciting adventures await you on your journey as a Djinncumon. Prove yourself. Become a Djinncumon uberthrall. The message popped up as the player downloaded the app. The player would scan their face to create an avatar that had the look of a hyper-sexualized monster-girl or monster-boy version of themselves. Players can roam the magical world of the game or the use the augmented reality feature to grind dungeons and acquire gear, items, and power ups for their Djinncumon, a boilerplate action MMO that also plays into the costume and dress up enthusiasts.

But it is Arena Mode that gets the players addicted. When a man or woman entered into Arena Mode, the outside world somehow fell away and the young man or woman playing the game would feel as if they were the Djinncumon or its master.
Players could engage in solo matches, team battles of as many as seven players per side, and great big free for alls. The players could take on the role of their own avatar in the thick of the fighting or command one or more thralls to battle for them.
Players who won battles won thralls, copy of a person's avatar that could use to fight on the players behalf or alongside as part of a team. The players could build squads of thralls delve into the deepest, most challenging dungeons, gangs of thralls to conquer and settle regions of wilderness, armies of thralls to conquer and build civilizations. Thralls gave players power and prestige, and certain thralls would give more prestige than others.
A thralls power grows with the power of the avatar of their original player. With the thralls of prestigious players who lost in their early arena fights but went on to grind their way to power are highly sought after commodities. With players able to trade and sell thralls with in game currency.
"Enchanting." "Addicting." "Magical" and "Hot, sexy, fun." Being the most common words to pop up in the metascoring.

The game had made Michael Benson rich, which had made his wife happy. They had moved out to a big estate not too far from The City. With her large home and staff to order around, Micheal's wife rarely bothered him anymore, no longer caring what time they ate dinner if someone else was going to do all the cooking.
Michael had noticed it happening slowly, then all at once. As the "Djinncumon Master-Administrator" he could sense those who had dedicated their souls to him. He could feel the power he had over them and if he looked at them the right way, he could see their avatars overlaying their physical bodies, like seeing the true person behind their mask, and that person was his property.
It usually manifested in subtle ways, restaurants not charging him for his meals. People ignoring the way they would obey commands given to them by a stranger or how they would feel compelled to welcome a random passerby into their home and treat him like a guest of honor.
Of course, there was the transformation feature. Michael Benson loved to see the look of shock on people's faces when they become their avatars and feel the power of being a real life Djinncumon.

Then there was the fun and games he did in his laboratory slash sex dungeon Michael Benson had built into his new estate. From there, he had access to the bodies, minds, and souls of everyone who had agreed to the Faustian bargain that was the terms of service for his game. Sometimes he would simply invade their dreams. Sometimes he would summon them to know and serve their master. Sometimes he would portal to them. And sometimes, Michael Benson would enter the World of Djinncumon itself, the magical realm of monsters and magic he had created out of his genius and fantasies, and isekai a few of his most addicted players with him.

For Michael Benson it was a world of magic, possibilities, and unbridled power.

How does Michael decide to have fun?
