Discuss sex life with son over dinner

One night at dinner she and her son talked about his love life, or more accurately the lack of it.

“So how are things on the girlfriend front?” Mary asked.

Thomas made a face at her. “It’s not something I want to talk about with my mother.”

“Why not, it’s not like I don’t know anything about sex,” Mary said.

“MOM!” Thomas said, scandalized.

“Get over it Thomas, your mother is a sexual being. Your being born should be a pretty good indication, what did you think, we found you in a cabbage patch? I’m an artist, that’s a profession that is fairly sexually liberal, I hooked up with your dad at an art show I was in. He showed me a wonderful time. I was 19, he was 23 and had graduated from college and landed his first job. Had his own car and apartment. I was a starving artist.”

“Most girls date older guys,” Thomas groused.

“Many girls do, I’m not sure I would put it at ‘most’,” Mary replied.

“All the ones I know do, you did too.” Thomas said.

“Guilty as charged,” Mary said raising her hand. “Your dad was charming witty, pretty well off, and good in bed. He apparently found me suitable, we got married within a year, and you were born two years later. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of getting you conceived.”

“So what happened?” Thomas asked.

Mary shrugged, “Somewhere along the line we fell out of love, our interests diverged, they were never that in sync to start with, and your dad wanted something I didn’t have any more.”

“A 20 year old body,” Thomas guessed.

“I’d put it at least of a part of it, yes,” Mary said, “The curious thing about all this is men are most horny in their 20’s and women in their 40’s, so you would think the age swap thing would be the other way around. I think older guys are attracted to the freedom that happens in your 20’s though. I’m no psychologist.”

“Neither am I mom, I’ve got a test to study for,” Thomas said.

“More like a Porn Video to watch while jerking off I suspect,” Mary said, utterly surprised she had said it out loud.

“MOM!!!” Thomas shouted this time, blushing.

“Oh come on Thomas, it’s not like I don’t know. I’ve had to clean your sheets enough times, and you’re always running out of tissues. And it’s perfectly natural for your age, hasn’t your father talked to you about it?”

“Yeah, we’ve talked,” Thomas said, looking down.

“Well here’s a news flash honey, women do it too,” Mary said.

“I know mom, I’ve watched,” Thomas admitted.

“Not me I hope,” Mary said.

“Yeah,” Thomas admitted sheepishly.

“So does your dad,” Mary said.

“20 something year old girls can, particularly if they are hot. The rest of us not so much, though if you lower your standards enough you can find it. I have pretty high standards,” Mary explained.

“Well I can’t,” Thomas said.

“You haven’t set your standards low enough, and please don’t, it fucks up the rest of your life. What you need to focus on right now is studying and preparing yourself for a career which will allow you to find a life mate,” Mary stated.

“Who divorces you 20 years later,” Thomas pointed out.

“Yeah, well life is a crap shoot in that regards I’m afraid,” Mary admitted, “You don’t want to stack the deck against yourself early though.”

“I’m trying, but it’s tough mom,” Thomas said.

“You’re doing OK, don’t worry, things will get easier,” Mary said, not believing a word of it.
