Directly at the cow

You take the lasso into your hands and get a solid grip. You run forward, trying to keep pace with the cow. It appears as though the cow is going all in for a tree line, where lassoing it will be impossible. You twirl the lasso above your head, and thrust it directly at the cow. Instead of roping the cow, the lasso falls to the ground behind it. You curse under your breath before beginning to reel the lasso back in.

“There she goes. She’s gone. My very best milker. No new cow can ever fill Bessie’s shoes.”

Dejected, the farmer snatches the rope from your hands and saunters off to a small ranch house. Chasing the cow winded up put you a little bit back from where you came, so you’ll have to rewalk that section of the trail.
