Diplomacy with the primitive tribes

"For a few weeks now, we have been having problems with the primitive Togruta tribes around here" Zuzin begins.

"Maybe you have heard about it before. Not all Togruta decided to trust and approach the first space travellers who came to Shili" Akansas continues.

"These tribes have retreated into the caves in the mountains. They keep a few animals there and go out into the fields now and then and steal some fruit" now explains Zuzin again.

"Up to now they were only a minor nuisance, but because of our common ancestors we have managed this. For a few weeks now, however, they have been attacking smaller villages and farms. So far there have been no deaths, but many houses and fields have been destroyed."

"According to our information, they have a new leader. This one strictly rejects anything technological. In addition, most of the individual farms that were attacked were inhabited by off-worlders, so I also assume xenophobia," says Akansis.

"That's why you explicitly asked for a Togruta?" asks Ahsoka. "Yes and no" replies Akansis. "That is one of the reasons, but another is that the primitive tribes only speak Togruti. All attempts to teach them Basic have failed miserably."

"Very well," Ahsoka says. "So, you want me to negotiate with them and get them to stop attacking?" she asks. "What could I possibly offer them?"

Akansas and Zuzin look at each other. "We had hoped to restore the old status. However, if this does not work, we have been authorised to set up a protection zone around the caves. This can then be completely cultivated by the tribes. We could show them how to grow fruit or even grow it for them if they wish."

"That sounds like a good suggestion," Ahsoka says, already thinking about what her strategy will be. "What happens if they don't agree to this proposal?"

The two men look at each other. "Then we will have to use military means against them" Zuzin says harshly. "We cannot endanger the lives and homes of the population."

Ahsoka nods once. "Alright, I'll do my best. I need a map of the region, a speeder and some information on the culture of the tribes to get an idea. Also, it would be helpful to know how they are armed in case they are hostile to me."

"All this will of course be made available to you. But instead of a speeder, I would recommend a Kybuck. Since the tribes abhor technology, you might anger them with a speeder" says Zuzin.

"Good idea, then a Kybuck including a riding harness. I'll study the map and get some provisions. If Akansas can tell me a little more about the tribes, I should be ready to leave tomorrow."

Zuzin smiles. "I will set things in motion immediately," he says and disappears. Akansas tells Ahsoka about the culture of the tribes and shows her where to find them with the help of the map. After a pleasant night's sleep, Ahsoka sets off the next morning with a backpack full of provisions on the back of the Kybuck to pacify the tribes.
