Would she like to join them for dinner?
Dinner with some nice people sound’s good.
“I wouldn’t want to intrude.” Amat began as Jan guided her from the restaurant.
“Nonsense, I even think there is a cheaper Italian place only a couple of blocks from here.” Jan said cheerily.
As they walked down the block Steve caught up to the two of them, “Does that happen often Amat?”
She nodded, “Yes, often,” She said, “some people treat me as lesser because I am not human.”
Steve shook his head, “I’m sorry, what they did was wrong.”
She nodded, “But your law will take time to catch up, they cannot say no because of my race. But they can because of my species.”
“That’s horrible,” Jan said, “There really isn’t that much that different between us, less so for you then some other Mtyhfolk.”
“Like your neighbours?” Amat continued, “Centaurs and an orc I think.” Jan looked shocked, “I have a very good sense of smell.” She explained.
Jan blushed, “How good?” She asked.
Amat nodded, “Yes that good.” Jan’s blush deepened. “I do not know the Centaurs, the orc smells familiar, I might know one of her family maybe.”
“Wow, that is a good sense of smell.” Steve was astounded, “You every think about getting into law enforcement? **** squad would love someone with your skills.” He complimented her.
The other Italian store was painted a pale blue, the paint was old and gave the place a rustic look. There was an older man with a thick accent who greeted them, “Come in, come in. Fresh pizza, pasta.” He was quite excitable.
They were shown a to a table as they continued to chat, “Vino? Wine?” the older man asked, “And if you want to introduce some to Italian, you should do it properly. Bread? Bruschetta? The Amritchichana, is particularly nice today if you can handle a bite?”
Steve looked at Amat “I don’t know what any of these things are.” She said.
“Wait, did our company sponsor you to come here?” She nodded. “Ahh, I think we will trust your judgement.” He finished handing the menus to the older gentleman. After he left Steve asked, “How long have you been on our world?”
“Three weeks, it is very strange, but nice, aside from the rude people.”
Jan smiled, “Well I am sure that you will enjoy something which is brought over.”
They continued to chat for several moments before the host came back with a bottle of wine some bread and bruschetta, “Chianti, from my home. On the house, from one migrant to another.” He said handing the bottle to Amat, “If you need a job, or a place to stay, we migrants look after each other.” He said touching her shoulder tenderly.
As he poured the wine Amat asked, “You do not know me? I am not used to human’s being so..” She groped for the word.
“Forward?” Jan offered.
The man smiled, “Ah, then you have not met many Italians, we love, it is in our blood. I will be back with more food, for now, eat.” He gestured at the plate and bowls.
The night continues?

When Worlds Collide
High fantasy meets suburban drama
About every 500 years our plane of existence overlaps with another, during this time when these world collide beings from each world can travel to the other through rifts. The world in question contains all those fantasy creatures which are so well known to us. Collectively they are known as Mythfolk individually they are the Elves, Centaurs, Dwarves and Orcs. Countless creatures from this other world, this other place. All evidence of this happening was destroyed during the dark ages, but now it is happening again. This time however we are more advanced than last time, this time we are more accepting of differences. So this time, some of these creatures have started to migrate here, to our world. This is the story of two humans who live in a quiet neighbourhood and what happens when some fantastical neighbours move in.
