Dinner with Logan
As Logan and Mike approached the cabin, the door opened by itself as if on command. Entering the cabin, that warm feeling that Mike felt on the outside seemed to envelop him. He truly felt as if he had come home. This wasn't his home, though. This was once the home of Scott Summers, one that he shared with his dead first wife, Madelyne Pryor. Or at least that was what some newspaper articles on the X-Men at the library had told him.
"Who's this?" asked a woman's voice.
"This is Mike Dorie," said Logan, directing Mike into the kitchen. Standing there making dinner was a heavily pregnant red haired woman. On her hand was a ring, looking down to Logan's hand, Mike noticed there was a matching one there that he just slipped on. Mike's eyes widened as he looked at the woman and realized who she was: Jean Grey.
"Are you from around, Mike?" asked Jean.
"No...," stammered Mike. "I'm from Picayune, it's a township in Kansas."
"That's a long way from here," said Jean as Mike sat down at the dinner table. Placing dinner on the table, Jean Grey joined Logan and Mike Dorie. The three of them began eating without a word. It was only when Mike had finished eating did Logan turn his attention to the boy.
"So, Mike," said Logan. "What's going on? Is it a coincidence that I kill Sabretooth the same day I meet you?"
"Sabretooth?" asked Jean.
"It's when you were at work," said Logan.
"It has to be," said Mike. "I wasn't sure I'd come here."
"Where else were you thinking of going?" asked Logan.
"A bunch of places," said Mike. "But... I thought this might be the best place to come."
"And why is that?" asked Jean.
"Because you have the same powers as I do," said Mike. "I'm telekinetic."
"Pretty powerful too," said Logan. "Flung Sabretooth a mile away."
"Mike, I'm glad you think so highly of me," started Jean. "But I don't do that anymore. I'm married. I have a life away from the X-Men now. Things are good for me. It's not a life I'm looking to get back into."
"I understand," said Mike.
"You can stay here tonight," said Jean. "But in the morning, I'll charter a flight for you back to Kansas City."
