Chapter 231 by bobbobbobthethir bobbobbobthethir

Who will you join for dinner?

Dinner with Jeanne

After showering and sprucing up, you head out of the locker room to meet with Jeanne. She’s touched up her make-up since half-time, her full red lips somehow looking even more enticing than before. The distraction must be evident, because she gives you another wave, running up to hug you.

{if SoccerScore3 == 3} “Congratulations! That was awesome! I am so proud of you,” Jeanne says. {elseif SoccerScore3 == 1} “Oof, that turned out to be sooo close, you’ll get them next time for sure,” Jeanne says. {else} “I was rooting so hard for you at the end, but I’m sure you’ll prevail next time,” Jeanne says. {endif}

“Thanks,” you say, hugging her back. “Thanks, too, for coming out all this way for a co-ed soccer match. You really didn’t have to.”

“Oh, it’s no big deal,” Jeanne laughs, waving her hand. “But! Speaking of, we should do that post-match interview, given it’s kinda why I’m here and all.”

“Right, of course,” you say, as she pulls out her phone and begins recording.

“Hey everyone! It’s Jeanne here for the Stonewall Grey, reporting live from the scene after a thrilling co-ed soccer match with FranklinU. I’m here with one of our standout players of the day, Alex Knight. Alex, how are you feeling after the game?”

“Pretty decent,” you say. “We fought hard today, worked as a team, {if SoccerScore3 == 3} and in the end, we came away with the win.” {elseif SoccerScore3 == 1} and in the end, we held them to a draw.” {else} but in the end, it wasn’t quite enough.” {endif}

Jeanne nods emphatically, saying: “So it was. Alex, I loved how you controlled your half of the pitch! It felt like every play was flowing through you. You were the driving **** behind the attack, the lynchpin behind the defense, it’s like the whole team would have fallen apart without you there.”

You laugh, not really sure of how to respond. It’s clear this girl doesn’t know what she’s saying. You were important, but not that important to the game today.

“Erm… thanks,” you say. “It really was a team effort, and I’m not just being humble when I say this: Daphne, Charlie, Jason, Javier, Katie and Khloe, Keegan, I mean, the list goes on, but all of us are out here for a reason, and they deserve the spotlight every bit as much as me.”

“And so modest, too! He really is the complete package,” Jeanne says, and then she blushes bright red. “Um… okay, that’ll be all from our sideline coverage today. Be sure to tune in next week, when the Stonewall team will play Schmarvard at home!”

With that, she lowers her phone, giving you a nervous glance. You take the hint and touch her by the shoulder.

“It was nice of you to come all the way out for me,” you say. “You want to get dinner together?”

“YES!” Jeanne says, a little too excitedly. Then, quickly after: “I mean, yes, unless you’ve got any other plans?”

“None that don’t involve you,” you smile, and with that, the two of you head out in search of a bite to eat.

Half an hour later, the two of you are seated in a cozy eatery, nice enough that you could take a girl there for a date, but not so nice that it would be the sole presumption. The conversation flows smoothly from the get-go, the two of you connecting over some deep cuts in the EDM scene, before broaching the subject of the game today. As you expected, Jeanne knows nary a thing about soccer. But as you talk more, you find that she’s surprisingly open to learning about the sport, and before long, she’s learned the difference between a wing-back and a full-back. You sneak a couple glances at her over the course of the meal, admiring her slim figure and the way her red, red lips purse whenever she puzzles over what you’ve just said. By the time you get to dessert, you’ve noticed her checking you out a few times too, and you decide to press your luck.

“Were you planning to drive back tonight?” you ask. “It’s starting to get late for a long drive.”

“That depends,” Jeanne says, a coy smile crossing her face. “I know the team typically gets a place for the night. Is the space amenable for another guest staying over?”

Damn. If only all girls could be so forward.

Jeanne +20
