Dinner and a talk

Saturday came around, you and Sarah were getting ready to have your sister visit. You had made a nice dinner (fish and seasoned rice with a garden salad TYVM). Before you knew it, and well before you felt you were ready there came a knock at the door and Jenna was here.

Talk was all of inconsequential things; Mom and Dad, the lives of mutual friends, your own not very meteoric rise in the company you worked for. “Actually, the marriage isn’t opening up for me.” you answered your sister in a quiet voice, with a nervous hitch in your throat. “Kind of the opposite actually.” Jenna shook her head with a confused look between the two of us until Sarah laughed and blurted out in a peppy voice.
