Dinner and a Movie

When Chloe came home, Carter was expecting her to have her normal rainy day routine. Usually, she would storm up to her room and not come back down until dinner. Today, she skipped up the steps to her room before returning down in a comfy pair of sweats and went to the kitchen to start setting the table.

That night, as Carter joined Chloe and her family for dinner, the topics of conversation followed their usual cadence, until Chloe put her boyfriend on the spot. With a slight grin, she asked Carter, "so, how did your studying go today?" Immediately, Carter felt his face turn red as all the eyes in the room focused on him.

Blushing, Carter told his girlfriend and his family, "uhhhh, the studying is going really well." Chloe quickly responded saying, "that's great baby! If you need help studying I would love to quiz you!"

Next, Chloe's dad asked him what course he was studying and that he didn't realize he was taking a summer class. Carter started to stutter before his girlfriend jumped to his rescue saying "he signed up for a self-improvement course! I'm so proud of him!"

Carter felt a bit embarrassed as Chloe's dad teased him a bit about the course but felt relief as her mom came to his defense. While the conversation between his girlfriend's parents turned Carter turned back to his meal. Shortly after, he asked Chloe to pass a bowl. When she did, the bowl bumped Carter's knife knocking it off the table.

Sighing, Carter looked down but couldn't find his knife. Eventually, he looked further under the table and saw that it bounced towards Chloe.
