Dimensional Differences

Earth DCM-6975

"So this is an alternate universe? Looks exactly the same to me," Felicia observed as they walked down the hallway to the address of what would be their apartment in their home universe. "I kinda hoped someone like Kingpin would have a vault here."

"Some universes are nearly identical," explained Gwen. "I wonder what's different about this one. At any rate, our place is as good as any to start looking for something, considering how little we have to go on."

"Maybe the Felicia here's not such a smartass," MJ quipped.

"I call it playful charm. And its one of the reasons you fell in love with me, Red, admit it," Felicia retorted.

"I guess..." MJ grudgingly admitted. "It doesn't hurt that you're smoking hot, though." MJ said, slapping Felicia playfully on the ass.

"I could say the same for you & Gwen," Felicia grinned. "Think we'll run into us in 'our' apartment?"

"We'll see soon enough," Gwen said, knocking on the apartment door. A tall, gorgeous redhead answered the door wearing a sheer purple robe, with a very unique, exotic look; she had orange skin and bright, completely green eyes, and all three wives, were awestruck by her incredible looks, with MJ in particular feeling drawn to her.

"X'Hal! You... uh, I'm sorry. You... look exactly like my wife," the woman told MJ.

MJ's curiosity was piqued -- was this woman's wife her counterpart in this universe? "Your wife? Is she home?"

"She's in the shower at the moment. She should be out momentarily," The woman said. "Do you have business with her?"

"Something like that," MJ said.

"In that case, please come in," the redhead offered. "My name is Koriand'r Watson. Please let me know if I can help you."

Koriand'r Watson? The three wives shared a curious look. Was her wife this reality's MJ? "These are my wives Felicia Hardy and Gwen Stacy, and, uh, my name's Mary Jane Watson."

Kori's eyes went wide once again. "That's my wife's name..." she said, confirming what MJ, Gwen, and Felicia had all suspected. Her curiosity at a new high, Kori had to ask, "Who are you, exactly?"

"I'm your wife, sort of. From another universe."

"This unbelievable hottie is your wife here? Way to go, lover!" Felicia teasingly chimed in, smacking MJ's butt.

"Oh, X'hal. I'd heard friends talk of traveling to other universes, meeting other versions of themselves, but I've not done it myself. What brings you to our universe?"

"A little dimension-hopping," Gwen explained. "The plan is to go around fixing broken universes. This here's our first stop -- we're supposed to meet someone here who can help us."

The other MJ walked into the room, wearing a robe identical to her wife's. "Hey, babe, I heard you talking to someone in here. So, who dropped... by..."

MJ's brow raised and she gasped, startled as she saw her doppelganger alongside two other beautiful women. "Uh... can I help you?"

MJ, Gwen, and Felicia explained the situation to the married couple, doing a good job to hide their awe at how gorgeous the pair looked together. MJ, in particular, was particularly enamored with the women -- of course, she loved her wives and prioritized them above anyone else, but she still couldn't help but entertain a few fantasies in her head. "We're, uh, we're looking for someone," MJ explained. "We thought this might be a good place to start looking, and..."

MJ, Gwen & Felicia all sensed a presence nearby, feeling a sensation not unlike the one they felt when they were summoned by Madame Web. This had to be the person they were looking for.

Cindy lifted the apartment's bedroom window, hoping not to frighten anyone who might be living there. "Uhhhhh, hellooooo...? Anyone here?"

"In here," Gwen yelled out. Usually, she'd have approached a situation like this with a bit more caution, but this multiversal sense -- whatever it was -- gave her the feeling she could trust the intruder.

Cindy walked in and saw the five women sitting in the apartment living room, introducing herself. "Um, hi. My name's Cindy Moon... Madame Web sent me. I take it you're my new co-workers?"

"The three of us are," the dimension-hopping MJ answered, pointing at her wives. "Looks like we'll be fixing broken worlds together."

"OK, great. Uhhhh, look... before we do anything else, there's something you should know... fixing reality is a priority for me, but it's not the *only* reason I'm doing this... I'm looking for someone important to me."

Cindy proceeded to explain her situation to the five other women, about how she'd met and fallen for Kara, only to lose her somewhere in the multiverse. About how Madame Web had told her that she may be able to reunite with her again if she agreed to help.

By the end of her story, all five women looked at her, the sorrow on their faces crystal clear.

"Wow. I'm so sorry," Gwen sympathized. "I can't imagine what I'd do if I lost either of my wives like that."

"...I would traverse the void itself for my MJ," Kori added, her eyes slightly teary. "I wish you luck."

"Ditto. If I was in your place I'd go through hell to get my girls back. I'll do whatever I can to help, Cindy," added Felicia.

Gwen & MJ looked at their wife and smiled. It wasn't often that Felicia showed her serious side, but both MJ and Gwen always appreciated it when she did. As much as they loved her playful side, it meant a lot to them when she did bare her emotions.

"What? We're gonna be working together anyway. Stop looking at me like that!"

"We're with you too," Gwen said as MJ nodded in agreement. "Let's go get your girlfriend back. Looks like we're done here. Kori -- other MJ -- thanks for hosting us; I hope we meet again."

"Me too. Good luck to all of you, especially you, Cindy," Kori said in an eager, friendly tone. MJ agreed, and the couple shook hands with the other group, save MJ, whom both women shared an enthusiastic hug with. They weren't quite sure why they singled out MJ for the hug, though...

"So where to now? Any ideas?" asked Gwen.

"I'm guessing these 'webs-of-whatever' are guiding us, because I've got an overwhelming urge to head to the Raft," Felicia answered.

"I sensed it too," Cindy agreed. "Let's go."

Earth M-6921

Empire State University Campus

Now in her second year at ESU, Anya Corazon was balancing her life as the heroine Arana with her studies in robotics under the brilliant Otto Octavius. She had enjoyed her studies immensely until one day accidentally uncovering her mentor's true intentions, using the university's resources and facilities to build robots to undermine his business rivals, such as Stark Industries and Oscorp. As Arana, she confronted her professor, leading to a fight between the two, during which a mysterious woman wearing a red cape intervened and attacked Dr. Octavius, eventually emerging victorious and beating the villain senseless.

"You looked like you could use some help," the blonde told Anya. "My name's Kara."

Anya looked over at Kara, standing over the injured Otto Octavius. "Call me Arana. That was a little... ****, don't you think?"

"I might have gotten a little carried away, I admit, but seeing Doc Ock, even it is one from a different universe... it just set me off," Kara answered.

"Not a fan of his, I take it?"

"Let's just say the Dr. Octopus of another world cost me everything."

"Oh. Uh, I'm sorry. Well, it looks like he'll recover... eventually. It'll probably be a long and painful one, though..."

Kara looked at her downed opponent, and then at Anya. "Believe me, I held back. I could have killed him. I don't like hurting anyone more than I have to... but I saw those huge metal tentacles and I couldn't help myself."

"I don't doubt that for a moment," said Anya. "But I'm glad you didn't... and if ripping Ock's tentacles off of their frame is you 'holding back' I'm not sure I want to see what happens when you *don't* hold back."

"Neither do I," admitted Kara.

"Well, I guess I should thank you. I should get going, though -- this guy's got something like five buddies who're probably wreaking havoc all over town, and I'm sure my friends'll need help taking them down."

"I'm coming with you," said Kara. "I want to help."

"Really? Mind if I ask why?" Anya asked.

A look of sadness crossed Kara's face. "You remind me of someone... and I can't stand by and let people get hurt."

"I see... all right then, let's go."

As Anya swung away, Kara wondered if she should make contact with the universe's Cindy. Maybe she could help... but she also knew that it wasn't *her* Cindy. And they had never met in this reality -- the thought of seeing the love of her life in front of her and Cindy not recognizing her at all was too painful to deal with. She wasn't ready. So, she took flight, following Anya, ready to help her deal with the rest of the Sinister Six.
