Chapter 5

What will Diana write on the second sticker?
Diana's personal assistant
"Well the problem with the old version of me, besides being inferior in every single way." Diana said with a sudden cold contempt, before her voice warmed again. "Was that she was just as self-obsessed as you can be sometimes. So I'm thinking before we give her access to the life of someone who is responsible for prescribing antipsychotics, maybe we give her a sort of training personality. She can be my new personal assistant."
Tom was dumfounded.
"You want to make the old you, work for you?" He said.
"Yes." Diana said, just nodding her head and giving Tom a wan smile, tinged with the guilt of not feeling guilty at all.
"Is this some kind of power trip?"
"Honestly maybe a little? But wait-. Before you cut me off, hear me out. It's not just because my mother's **** tries to manifest itself as a desire to dominate other people. I admit that's something I'm guilty of, but I think this time the sexy option happens to be the right one." Diana said, her discomfort now manifesting as uncontrollable little giggles.
Tom groaned knowing how uncomfortable suddenly getting perspective must have made his wife, but still not having patience for it.
"Explain yourself."
"Well I don't want to give up Sophia's job, and the old me isn't ready to become the new Dr. Kahn. She'll need some professional experience. This is a way to train her, keeping a close eye on what she does while I get to personally prepare her to take on the Sophia Kahn identity." Diana said.
"Okay, but how long will that be? And how will that work? How will the new Sophia Kahn react to missing whole years of her life?"
"She won't be missing them." Diana said, rolling her eyes. "Trust someone who actually knows what this is like. Please I'm trying to be patient Tom, but I'm telling you we can't let her become the new Sophia Kahn yet. Trust me when I tell you this is what we need to do. Please just have my back on this, and trust that I'm doing what's best for us."
Diana stepped closer, and Tom didn't back away. She took another step and Tom's face softened. The new Diana wrapped her hands back around her husband, breathing in his scent deeply. Tom felt that love he had felt when they had first started dating. He recognized his wife. He recognized what an ass he had been to her for years.
"I do trust you. This is just crazy." Tom said.
"It's so crazy! But crazy isn't bad! Trust me, being a little bad can be good sometimes. I can promise if a year from now we want to make this body Sophia Kahn we still have plenty of stickers. We'll make sure to save one. But we still have so many. Trust me, this is what's the best."
"Fine, but whose identity are you going to use? Won't we still be left with someone whose body becomes an empty shell. I'm still not comfortable with that.
"Trust me, I've got an idea that will mean no one else has to get involved. Not unless you want to, of course." Diana said with a smirking chortle.
Diana held out her hand and Tom reached into his pocket to give her the book of stickers. She smiled and kissed him on the cheek before she scurried to her desk to get a pen a quickly scrawled "Diana Miller's Personal Assistant" on the sticker before rushing back over to me.
"So are you ready to see if this works?" She said giving Tom a big grin and thumbs up.
Tom tried to return the smile but he couldn't hide the anxiety from Diana as he said:
"Yup. Let's do it."
Diana smiled and applied the sticker to the nobody's blue and white striped t-shirt.
Just like with the new version of my wife, nothing immediately happened with the body of my old one. Not until Diana spoke:
"Can you tell me who you are?" She said, hoping this would work.
How well does it work?
