Chapter 19
by Suvinceus
A few days later...
Diana's Decision
July 30, 1979
At an apartment complex in Little Italy, Nuzo was busy combing back his dark black hair as well as checking out his stubble. He planned on going to James's mansion, the base of operations for the Little Italy Bluebirds to see if there was any work to do, such as defending their turf, or finding some new blood.
The brown-eyed muscle of the Bluebirds had relied on his attitude, as well as his strength to best any enemies in his tracks, and he also idolized Rocky Balboa from the Rocky movies, honing his skills in boxing to be just like him. Nuzo also served as a protector to his younger sister Diana, but he had been secretly spying on her whenever she was changing clothes, something she was seemingly aware of from the start.
"Yo, Nuzo! I'm goin' to Coney for a night out on the town!" The brown-haired Bluebird's voice called out as she entered his room.
"Is Carlotta joinin' you?" Nuzo asked.
"Not really; she said she loved to join in, but she's got her schedule cut out for her. I guess that's what you get when you're a hooker." Diana said with a small frown.
"There anything important you gotta do there?" he asked.
"I have a date with this guy; I'm not telling you who he is though, but I heard he's really good with chicks." she replied.
That guy in particular was Ajax, whom she encountered with her friends; also there was his pal Snow, who taken great interest in Diana's friend, Carlotta. However, the double date was changed since the blonde was busy with her work as a prostitute.
"Wait! If you're goin' alone, then maybe I should keep my eye on you." Nuzo told her.
"I'm old enough to go on my own, thank you very much. Now if you'd excuse me, I got myself a night to spend." Diana said as put on her Bluebirds jacket.
As the brunette Bluebird put a can of spray paint into her purse, she gave Nuzo a grin before she went out the door.
At the mansion belonging to the leader of the Bluebirds, James, the leader himself was busy teaching a fellow Bluebird how to box better. He was a retired brawler that delighted in the sport of boxing, and was willing to give his men a few lessons or two on the sport itself.
He stood out with short brown hair, that had hints of grey in it, as well as bold hazel eyes that maintained a fearless gaze. James also enjoyed gambling, believing it to be one of his family's pastimes.
Also under his wing was the calm and composed scout Donny, who was at odds with Nuzo, as Donny was occasionally around him, and although he praised him for his skills in boxing, he was envious that he wasn't as strong as him. But he redeemed himself with his high intelligence and razor-sharp reflexes.
The telephone suddenly rang, and the brown-haired scout took notice and approached James. "James, you got yourself a phone call. Don't know who it is, but it may be important."
"Very well then." the Bluebirds leader said before he went to answer the phone on his desk.
"Hello?" he asked.
"Yes, this is Slattery of the Crescent Moons from Sea Gate. I've received word that the Warriors appear to be on good terms with you Bluebirds. I was wondering if you'd agree in becoming allies of ours. After all, we need all the help we can get in tracking down the Corporate Crooks." Slattery replied.
James was actually informed of Diana's interactions with Ajax and Snow the other day, and nodded his approval. "So you do want the Bluebirds to be friends of the Crescent Moons. I think you got yourself a deal, as long as you don't pry into our agendas." he said.
"Excellent. I look forward to meeting you again soon." Slattery said with a smile.
As the Crescent Moons leader hung up, James stroked his beard as he wondered what Nuzo and Diana were up to.
At Hells Kitchen, the Rogues were drinking and hanging out at one of the bars, when Psychosis entered the room and said, "Allright, Rogues! I've got something to get off my chest, and I've also got a little plan that we can use to shake up the Warriors and their friends."
"First off, Luther was the victim in this sorry scandal that got him kicked out of the Rogues, and to my surprise, I encountered him some hours ago, and boy was he pissed off! He demanded we go after the Warriors, and unlike last time, not fuck it up." he explained.
"We head to Coney Island, find their turf, and then, beat up every single one of those jackasses until they scream for mercy, something we ain't gonna give to them." he added.
"Are you crazy? Don't we have any ally gangs or somethin'?" one Rogue asked.
"Yeah, you must have a deathwish, Psychosis." another added.
"Don't worry about it! Everything's gonna work out as planned." Psychosis said, before he added with a glint in his eye, "Trust me."
Diana immediately got off the subway as she arrived at Coney. The brunette began looking for any people wearing red vests, and to her surprise, she found a few at a bar.
"Hey, do you know where those Warriors are?" she asked.
"Yeah, we'll take you there, hold on a sec." one of them replied.
The group of new blood then escorted Diana to the Warriors's base of operations, and as she approached the door, she knocked on it, before opening it, causing most of them to take notice.
"Hey, it's that girl from Little Italy." one Warrior said.
"The resident Picasso of the Bluebirds, I can tell." another added.
Diana immediately found Swan, who was in a conversation with Snow, when they noticed her, before she asked, "I'm looking for someone named Ajax. Do you know where he is?"
"Hey, where's Carlotta?" Snow asked.
The brunette shrugged before she said, "Carlotta's got work to do out on the streets. Said she's got some high-class clients or something."
"Ah, man..." the dark-skinned Warrior said with a disappointed expression.
"Did someone say my name?" Ajax asked after doing a few punches on the sandbag.
"Yeah, we met her at that bar after your escape from the police, remember?" Snow asked.
"Oh, yeah, I know her. Hey, what's her name again?" the short-haired Warrior said.
"It's Diana, don't you remember? D-I-A-N-A." Diana said with an agitated sigh.
"Yeah, Diana. So, did you make up your mind? Or are you just here for a quickie?" Ajax said with a smirk.
"I decided that we'll go out. Since your friend's disappointed that Carlotta ain't around, he can come along, at least." the brunette Bluebird said.
"Heh...a little threeway ain't such a bad thing after all. So where are we goin'?" he asked.
"There's a bar in Yorkville, got some really killer punk music, the kind of music I enjoy." Diana said.
"Are you crazy? That's where the Razors live." Snow said.
The Razors were a German-American gang in Yorkville whose attitude and style mimicked that of the British punk rock scene. Their leader was the hot-headed Frank, who lived his life as a pessimist and despised all the other gangs.
"Oh, please. It's allright with me as it's allright with her." Ajax told him.
"Well, I'm comin' along since I want to keep an eye out for any Razors that threaten to screw that date of yours up." Snow replied.
"Fine, whatever. Just don't think about puttin' the moves on Diana here, she's mine." the short-haired Warrior said with a grin.
Snow simply grimaced, and followed Ajax and Diana's lead as the trio headed for Yorkville.
At Yorkville...
