Desperation is a powerful motivation.

"Oh oh! Kazuma! I got another great idea to make bank!" Aqua proclaimed as she approached the lazily reclining and eating Kazuma.

"I dunno, at this point, wouldn't it just be less work to actually... Work, Goddess of Poverty?" Kazuma deadpanned at Aqua.

"Pov- no, no! This one is low risk, high reward this time, I swear!" she declared, then showed him... five Lottery tickets.

"...okay, now you're just ****, " Kazuma deadpanned.

"No, I have a genius idea! Your only redeeming quality is your luck stat, so we're going to exploit it, and if we win the first prize on even one of these, we get a million Eris! That'd be enough to wait out that damn Dullahan for sure, even if we split it!"

That... Actually sounded like a decent idea. Sure, he could already wait out the Dullahan in all likelihood, but it was thanks to his luck stat he could do so in the first place, and what could a little more financial security hurt? Plus, **** Aqua was getting annoying.

Sadly, even exploiting Kazuma's luck was a bust. The first four tickets had only got them the third place prizes, which were simple brushes, much to Aqua's dismay. The last one however had a special prize, and Aqua resorted to cheating by using Blessing on him in order to boost the living daylights out of his luck stat. Which actually worked... But the grand prize turned out to be an "artifact" from his own world... A useless old cell phone.

Aqua was crying practical waterfall tears on the way home, even as she handed over her panties to Kazuma. She was too distraught to even be embarrassed for the action, and Kazuma proceeded to make the mistake of taking pity on her.

"So where's Aqua right now?" Darkness asked as she, Megumin and Kazuma ate dinner.

"I have her running errands for me in exchange for paying off her latest debt," Kazuma grumbled. "Speak of the devil..."

"Oh Kazuma? Remember that money you gave me to run your errands?" Aqua asked, and Kazuma already felt his blood pressure rising. "Well, I passed by a stand selling a really, really delicious- Aiiieee!!!" she ran for it as Kazuma chased after her in a blind rage, brandishing his sheathed sword.
