Your name is Derrick. You're 27 years old and you came to work here because it was exciting. Working in space is truly something incredible. Even if you have long shifts, you can't contact your family, you're mainly working maintenance and the food sucks. But you did always dream of becoming an astronaut. This is close enough.

Oh, and there's also the fact about the gender suppressors. Incredible what technology can do. You look down at your wrist where the infamous device recides, never to be taking off as long as your are onboard for this shift. Such a simple device: a circle of metal and with a blue button in the middle that would glow bright blue when activated, to signal to others that the effects of the wristband was active.

The purpose of the device was to creat equality on thw workplace, so everyone felt equal to others and so no one was above others. It also meant that even though you've worked alongside your colleages fo the past 6 months, you have no idea what they actually look like in real life, or what gender they are. To you they are all men. But the could all be women for what you knew.

Currently inside your private cabin, the only place you're allowed not to have the effects of the wristband active, you look at yourself in your mirror. Brown long hair and slender of built with a slight stubble.

Sometimes you forgot this is what you actually look like. On the space station there are many reflective surfaces and in every one of those you would catch the reflection of someone else. Another you. A corporate you, you might call it.

It was time to put on that face. It was time for work!

You stood by the mirror and activated the wristband. It lit up its familar blue collar and activated the effects. It bipped out twice, which is not something you've ever heard it do before. Strange. But when you try to look at it, you feel the effects of it taking place:

You hair recedes and becomes shorter and fashions itself into a standard style. You face broadens and your chin protrudes. Your skinny arms and chest muscles up and becomes broader. You height shrinks just a little, you have always been taller than most. And your stubble desapeard completely. You've always been dissatisfied with this detail, some of the other guys get to keep their beard. Maybe they have a longer beard as their real self, you will never know.

When the effects are over, you look like a standard handsome male joe for the job.

You finally get the chance to look at the watch to examine that strange new noice it made. But now it just looks normal, just glowing that familiar blue glow it does when it is activated. Strange. Maybe you made up the noise?

Anyway, you have no time to think about it anymore, its time to work!

You head out to the morning meeting. It's always a little frightening going to one of these, because, beside your hair colors and eye colors and slight variations in your appearances, you all mostly look the same.

But it also makes you feel more connected to these guys. You worked with some of them for almost 6 months now. And looking like them makes them feel almost like your brothers. But only part time. Being family means you can rely on one each other despite anything. That no matter what happens to you or what you do, you can always count of them for support. But when you aren't even allowed to see someone's real face, it's hard to consider them your true family. So its a limited familiar feeling you have to these guys. Which you suppose is the point, since your are colleagues and nothing more.

The two closest guys you've worked with are Kendall, a black haired latino guy you've known pretty much since the beginning. You and him are partners so you mostly always work together.

The two of you nods to each other, as you stand next to each other.

Then there's Jack. A blond guy. Can be kind of an asshole, but he is the only other guy you've known as long as Kendall, so the three of you have an agreement you might say. Jack can be outright nasty to some of the other crew members, but he is never nasty to you or Kendall.

He gives you a cold wink.

After the morning meeting from your leader, Evan, who looks just like the rest of you, you've put in pairs.
