Derek avoids temptation and tries to be alone, until found by a shy guy.

For some reason, it was so hard not to, like, grab a beer or talk to cute boys. Like, inside Derek's mind, he knew he wasn't supposed to do those things, but, like, at the same time, what was the harm? The harm is I fall so deep into this persona that I never return.

With that sobering thought at the forefront of his mind, Derek headed off to grab a soda, then found a secluded area of the house and hid. Every neuron in his brain was screaming that he needed to go talk with people, show off, get attention! But with every ounce of willpower Derek had, he fought against that and stayed where he was.

"O-oh...hey there Jessica." The voice came out of nowhere, a few feet away from Derek. He turned quickly and saw the source of the words: Mitch. He was a quiet, shy kind of guy who went to their school. Derek knew he was an artist, one who could hold a decent conversation if you nudged him out of his shell. Jessica knew he was a loner, a loser with a stutter and no social life. In other words, a prime target for ridicule.
