Chapter 2 by Tyff Tyff

Who are we following first?

Denise Roberts, 20F, college sophomore

Denise Roberts was a bright 20 year old that was halfway complete with her bachelor degree. She did run into the problem that most college kids run into: she was running low on funds. She had been looking for part time jobs but no one wanted to hire her for the two months of summer when they could have someone that was planning to stay longer. She was getting **** at this point and was even considering creating an Onlyfans account or even stripping. She found an ad for testing a **** that would ‘free humanity from its shame.’ It sounded fairly strange but she got to keep her clothes on and make money at the same time.

She decided to call the number on the add and surprisingly it rang once before a female voice answered: “This is Dr. Nicole Everton speaking. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?”

Denise spoke: “Good afternoon, Dr. Everton. My name is Denise Roberts and I found your ad online. I was hoping you were still looking for test subjects to assist with your experiment. I am actually an abnormal psych major and I am interested in helping you.”

Nicole spoke: “Oh abnormal psychology…very intriguing, Denise. Also, please call me Nicole.” Denise took note of her request and went back to listening: “I happy to say that I am still looking for test subjects. I only have a few questions and then we can set a time for a more formal interview.”

Denise was getting a bit nervous as she was not expecting an impromptu interview but said confidently: “Absolutely! I am ready for any and all questions.”

Nicole giggled and said, “Very good. So my first question is what are your overall feelings on the emotion of shame?”

Denise thought for a few seconds and then said, “I feel like shame is a manufactured emotion that comes from not only our upbringing but also our surroundings. Take for example a secluded tribe in the Amazon their sense of shame is much different then anyone in America. Even look at the Amish having the most **** sense of shame compared to any normal American.”

Nicole spoke in a low tone: “I like the way you think, Denise. I undoubtedly believe that shame is a manufactured emotion and I believe it controls the country as a whole to have to conform to social norms.” Denise was liking Nicole more and more as she undoubtedly enjoyed the idea of working with her despite not having any interview confirmed yet. Nicole continued: “So my next question is what do you think happens when shame is removed from a person?”

Denise took a moment again and spoke with confidence: “I personally believe by removing shame from any normal person we can unlock the potential to do things that could lead to high success overall. Shame is the crutch that causes many people to lead sheltered and often boring lives.”

Nicole giggled as she said: “I couldn’t agree with you more, Denise. This final question is a bit of a doozy so take your time with it. What happens if we remove the shame altogether?”

Denise was a bit confused and asked: “Removed the shame? Do you mean like actually have the shame removed?”

Nicole said calmly: “Yes, like have it where the brain no longer processes that emotion.”

Denise knew her answer then: “Then we would be free beings. No longer seeking approval from strangers or being chained down by ideals that were unrealistic.”

Nicole spoke with a pitch of enjoyment: “Congratulations, Denise! I want to offer you an interview at my office and see if you would like to potentially join the team.”

Denise squealed with excitement and said, “Absolutely! Give me a date and time and I will be there.”

Nicole spoke softly, “How about today in about an hour or so? I will send you my address and let me know how far you are. I would prefer to get to work today instead of holding off any further.”

Denise heard the chime of a text and put the address into her maps app. She saw the office was only a 10 min drive and said: “I’ll be there in 30, Nicole. Thank you so much again and I’ll see you soon.”

Nicole said: “Wonderful. Just come on in whenever you get here and I look forward to meeting you too.”

Denise ended the call and hurried got herself out of her sleep shirt dressed into a pair of jeans, t-shirt and shoes. She quickly went to the bathroom and made herself presentable as she made sure to be out the door in no more than five minutes. She grabbed her purse and keys as she ran out the door and made her way to her car as quickly as possible. She was excited for the money but she was even more excited to be working on something related to her field.

How does the interview go?
