Defensive with a shield

I found myself using relying on my heavy armor and shield to protect myself and then unleashing the light on my enemies when they tire or aren't expecting it. I became proficient with using a shield in one hand and a heavy one handed mace in the other.

As I turned 22 I was given some starter heavy plate armor and a small round shield. Neither were adorned with much decoration to speak of, just dull metal. It covered majority of my body with the exception of my thighs. My leg armor covered my shins up just past my knee offering me sufficient protection without hindering my movement too badly.

My leader deemed me prepared to face the evils of the world and gave me some gold to start my journey as I set out as a fledgling paladin. I return to my hometown filled with pride, but unsure of where to even start.
