Defend yourself

You kick back at the wolf behind you as it slashes at your back legs with its claws. You hooves land true and you smack it in the head causing its claws to sweep up, missing you. It falls limply on the ground. You grab your bow.

Hwin seems adept at fighting and has managed to catch her wolf's fur on fire and it runs of howling. Harrold jabs the spear at his wolf but it evades him but is **** to keep its distance. Shakaste gets a few good whacks with his staff on to his wolf causing it to back off a bit. Too wolves is too much for the injured man and the boy screams as one bites into his arm causing him to drop his burning branch and the other then pounces on his chest knocking him over. The wolf then deals a killing blow to the neck.

Hwin wheels round to defend the children as you fill her space. You get one shot on the wolves that were pulling the manticore finding it too heavy they abandon the corps to come towards you.

Shakaste manages to hit his wolf on the head hard-knocking it out. He is surprisingly strong for an old man. He turns to help Hwin aginst the two wolves one of which is trying to drag the now dead man away.

The boy stupidly brakes from the group to try and get to his dead dad. The wolf turns and pounces on him killing him instantly.

Harrold's wolf leaps and slashes at his throat cutting it but getting squared on the spear in the process. It falls limp as Harrold falls back clutching his wound and dropping the spear. Sarah rushes to his aid dropping the cub who starts crying in an eery deep baby's cry. The girl is crying and screaming at every movement the wolves make.

You grab the spear and finish off the two that had been advancing on you. You turn around to see Hwin slit the throat of the wolf attacking her blood pouring from claw marks down here other arm where she had dropped the branch. The last wolf in the clearing picks up the body of the boy and runs off.

Harrold bleeds out as Sarah cradles him in her arms.

"Let's leave before they come back or all this blood attracts something worse. If we are lucky we can reach the town by dawn." You proclaim and you stab your spear into the wolf Shakaste knocked out just for good measure.

You retrieve the body of the Manticore as you still need that. You calm the baby down and retie it to your body. Sarah reluctantly leaves the body of her husband and picks up the little girl who sobs into her chest.

Shakaste bandages the wounds you and Hwin received and helps you pack your tent quickly. You light a torch hand another to Shakaste and together you lead the way through the dark exhausted and with your spirit broken back toward the town.

As red light rises above the horizon you see the black silhouettes of the wooden town walls and guard towers that surround the town.
