Regrouping with your leaders after the battle, you’re relieved to see that only Uzume received any injuries, and those were superficial and easily healed by Kali. Everyone looks tired, but satisfied, if not happy. You nod as the Genna approaches, last to arrive. “Everyone made it through it seems. And the reserves are scattered or dead, though it wasn’t much of a fight.”

Genna sighs. “We caught sight of that Lilim, Reyka, as we charged. She used some kind of teleport to escape.”

Ky Dura nods. “I saw Uzume take down Denari. Impressive.”

Uzume chuckles and flexes her arms, and you chuckle. “I doubt we’ll ever meet someone who can top Uzume one on one. How are everyone’s forces?”

Unir shrugs. “We took some casualties, but very few dead. Without artillery or archers, they lacked anything to overcome our armor.”

Dura smiles. “Same here, except strength and reach instead of armor. I wouldn’t try this setup against the main army, well placed siege weapons would blow a hole in our lines.”

Ochiba nods. “I’ll be planning the next battle with the Forgefather. No offense, your highness, but this was a simple fight, tactically.”

You chuckle. “None taken, general. My objective in the next fight is the demon lord above all else anyway. The rest I leave to you. How fares the rest of the army?”

Ochiba shakes his head. “We took a bit of a beating, but less than I expected. Drawing them into the center minimized the casualties.”

Genna speaks up. “And our cavalry was essentially untouched. The battle was basically over once we charged.”

You smile. “All good news. Everyone rest for the rest of the day. We push on tomorrow morning. We should be able to start liberating actual towns now.”

Sadie giggles. “Yay! I wanna help people, not just blast them. Lightning is fun, but there’s people who need to be saved.”

You nod. “Exactly. Remember what we’re doing here. Ruka, can your people cleanse the corruption the demons tend to cause?”

The dryad smiles. “Once the demons leave, yes. It will be easy, with the numbers we have.”

“Good. That’s going to be your primary job, then.”

You sigh. “I’m going to go relax. My adrenaline is going away now, and I want to chat with some of the troops. Inform me if anything comes up.”

Ochiba nods. “Of course, your highness.”

You chuckle. “Just Josh, how many times do I need to say it?”
