Debbie is puzzled but gets interrupted

Debbie tilts her head, puzzled for a brief moment, but before she can press him on it, a familiar voice interrupts.

“Hey, guys! Am I late?” - Jessie approaches with her usual energy, dressed in a red low-cut shirt and a black skirt, confidence radiating from her every step. Debbie lights up instantly.

“Jessie!” She pulls her into a quick hug while Jake waves hello.

After a few minutes of excited chatter, Jessie claps her hands together. “Alright, priority question: ice cream first, shopping second?”- Neither Debbie nor Jake objects.

The ice cream shop is busy and bright, glass cases gleaming under warm lights. Debbie steps up to the counter first, already knowing exactly which flavors she wants. Jake and Jessie linger a few steps back, scanning the menu together.

Jessie suddenly freezes: “Oh crap,” she mutters, patting her pockets, then her bag. “I forgot my money!”

She glances sideways at Jake, a slow, playful smile spreading across her face. “Hey, Jake,” she says casually, “you’d do anything to kiss a cute girl, right?”

Jake doesn’t hesitate. “You know I do.”

Jessie grins. “How about this — I let you kiss me, and you buy me an ice cream?” She puckers her lips exaggeratedly. For a moment, Jake just stares. Maybe somewhere deep down, a distant part of him senses that something about this situation should feel wrong? But the stronger thought wins immediately. Kiss a cute girl. And Jessie is definitely cute! His hesitation turns into a bright smile.
