Dealing with pests.

"Well...mundane quests aside, a little action never hurt anyone, much less someone like me...~ So this would probably do!" You picked a request off of the quest board and headed over to the front desk before placing it down. "I'd like to take on this quest, please."

"Ah...let's see...you're...Miss Airi, you just registered today, no? Are you sure you want to take on such a request so soon? Why not take the opportunity to form a team first? A request like this...destroying a group of ogres and goblins hiding in the forest off the southern road heading to the capital... for a copper rank such as yourself..." The elderly gentleman looked at you a bit worriedly and with a hint of skepticism.

'...I'm glad my hidden naming sense is a bit better than Nabe's and Ainz's...' "I believe I'm more than capable of handling myself on this matter." You confidently responded to the receptionist, putting up your most charming smile. 'Hopefully, I'd rather not use any skills or spells...let's see if I can convince him first.' "My armor and weaponry are more than capable of handling such low-level vermin." You gave the spear strapped to your back a good pat.

"...I understand, your armor and your weapon certainly seem to be of high quality, and you yourself have the aura of a warrior, despite your youthful yet mature appearance and beauty...however, many young adventurers such as yourself tend to overestimate your own abilities." His expression softened but remained firm. "...And die as a result, either never heard from again or found with their bodies mangled or eaten and equipment looted... I insist you take a step back and form a party first, please. Both to increase your chances of survival...and to lessen the chances of the demihumans becoming more dangerous should you fall."

"...I see." You merely kept smiling, though you could feel a spark of rage beginning to build up inside. Thankfully, you managed to calm yourself down from taking action. 'Mentally deep breaths, Albedo...long...deep...breaths!' "However...let's put a spin on this, shall we...? How long would it take for another adventurer group to take up this request? The payment is abysmally low compared to the other requests. And the location where the demihumans have taken up residence? It's close to a road, a road where travelers, merchants, and perhaps tired adventurers would pass through...how many would perish to those creatures before they're stopped?" You questioned the receptionist, who gritted his teeth, a conflicted look in his eyes. "I'm here, now, to accept and swiftly deal with those monsters."

"...If you fall-" He started to speak.

"I will not." You stopped him and replied with absolute certainty. "You can trust in my abilities and my skills."

"You haven't even proven yourself yet." He retorted.

"Then let me start by proving myself now." You responded, shrugging at him nonchalantly.

"...You truly won't back down, will you?" He sighed.

"Of course not, I chose this request, and I will complete it." You simply stated.

"..." The receptionist closed his eyes, thinking for a few moments, then sighing in resignation as he slumped into his chair. "...Very well...I'll process the request for you...and have it assigned to you..." He gave his approval.

"Excellent~!" You smiled gratefully at him, though he only returned it with a worrying frown.

"...Please be careful." He stamped a seal of approval onto the request and opened up a drawer, placing the request inside and closing it.

"But of course~" You reassured him as you turned around and left, before letting out a sigh of relief. "Ugh...I was this close to just charming him, but hey, at least I know I can talk my way around~!" You grinned as you headed out. 'This is going to be a piece of cake~'

*On the southern road leading to the capital, within the forest, around an hour later.*

"Agghh!? S-Scary-GUAH?!"

"T-Too strong-ack!!!!"

"Gaaaah!!"

"R-Run-guoooh!?"

Within the depths of the forest, the horrid and painfully loud screams and general sounds of panic of the goblins and ogres could be heard echoing throughout. Accompanied by amused laughter.

"Hahaha~ This is way too easy~!!! Hahaha~!" You laughed your heart out as you speared and pierced goblin after goblin after goblin. "Is running all the best you can do, you disgusting little cretins~? That makes 25 now... Hm~?" While you were distracted spearing another green humanoid, you felt something strike your head, though, you didn't really register anything more than a light tap. "What's this~?" You looked behind you, seeing a stunned creature more than twice your size looking confused at both you and his large, wooden club. "Ah...did you try to smash my head in?" 'I even wore one of those rings that lowers my stats and resistances considerably, just to make things more believable... honestly, I was hoping to have some injuries or even just dents on my armor so maybe I could curry some sympathy points and rank up faster...I guess that just proves that this is basically the beginning stage..."

"W-Whuh? Why...Why you no go splat...?" The ogre bumbled out as you finished off killing the goblin, sending it flying and smacking into a nearby tree.

"Why...didn't I go splat? Well, if you were smart, you'd realize by now that I'm just that much stronger than any of you stupid lower life forms~!" You grinned viciously at it, reveling in the sight of your prey falling over backward in sheer terror. "You probably could have escaped...but you didn't even try to run...tsk tsk...how foolish could you get~?" You taunted the poor thing as it shivered in your presence. "Haah...jeez...seeing the sight of my enemies being crushed beneath me...ah...~" You could feel yourself shiver in delight as you leveled your weapon before swiftly impaling it into the ogre's chest, then slashing it upwards, cutting through flesh and bone like soft butter. Blood splattered everywhere as the ogre gurgled in its dying breath, its internals leaking outward and a fresh crimson puddle forming beneath the beast. "...And that makes...eight ogres~" You giggled, feeling accomplished. "Time to cut off parts for proof~"

"You...You will pay, human!" A green-skinned individual came out from behind one of the trees.

"Oh...? A survivor? You really shouldn't have come out...~!" You gave it a welcoming smile as you stood up.

"Shut up! Y-You murderer!" The goblin replied, standing straight up, puffing out his chest in anger. He appeared to be wearing a robe and carrying a sort of crude staff.

"...Hmm...you're a bit different than the other ones here...taller too. Are you some sort of...goblin caster...no, maybe a hobgoblin caster~?" You continued to smile at your opponent. "And I think...you were the one leading this group of misfits, no?"

"...Tsk...you're right...I was...and you ended it all! I was waiting...trying to grow my forces so-" You cut him off.

"So you could build a big enough army to take down the capital or whatever...yeah...I heard that song and dance before~!" You rolled your eyes, but couldn't help but be amused at the attempt.

"And you destroyed my dream!!!" He angrily stomped his foot, pointing his staff at you. "I'm going to make you pay for that!"

"And what are you going to do~? Shoot me with a fireball~?" You got ready to charge forward.

"No...You're too strong for a fireball spell...! No...I'm going to turn you into my sex **** and have you make me more powerful offspring!! [Greater Dominate]" The goblin directed his spell and launched it at you.

"As if that'll work~!" You propelled forward, your weapon swinging downward as you reached him at the same time.
