Chapter 6 by latexdoll latexdoll

Choose your mission.

Deal with the leak.

As you sail up the building you think over the options. The first you guess makes you a thief, the second possibly an assassin or fighter, the third is a dreaded escort mission, and the last might just make you a hero but at the same time it seems awfully escort like. “I want some action.” You say quietly and select the second mission. The instant you make the choice the building shifts slightly and the riser pulls you up to the roof. Your strong new body effortlessly pulls you over the edge and after a brief handstand you vault to your feet. The computer in your head shows you a map to your destination, through the roof entry, down three floors, and to a cubical in an office. “Cool.” Grinning you sort of enter auto pilot and with a flurry of motion you pull out a little knife, pop off the security panel on the door, plug in your interface plugs, and an overlay of the net fills your vision. Your computer persona, a rather simple looking but sexy schoolgirl with a far to short plaid skirt, bare midriff, and long black hair rattles away on what looks like a cross between a keyboard and a guitar. You somehow know this is just what your programs have been styled to look like, but still it is all very cool. In the net the door bursts forth a huge black dog, but a glowing spot on your wide black belt glows blue. Tapping the spot becomes a big video game like bone in ham which you toss to the side. The dog takes one look and charges the ham. A few keystrokes later and the door latch clicks open. The schoolgirl version of you runs inside running along the wall and with a slash of the ax blade on the keyboard the camera goes dark. “Bad ass.” You say as you watch your body disengage the plugs and you seem free to open the door.

The map no longer exists once you are inside, and you aren't sure if it was there or just the games way of telling you what your character is supposed to know. Not even bothering to step on the stairs you vault down the stairwell sliding and hopping from handrail to handrail till you hit the 37th floor. With a repeat performance of the roof entryway the schoolgirl you disables the lock, as well as a slew of internal security cameras using another utility program that looks like a little clockwork device that slowly winds the camera controls backward three seconds every three seconds to create a little loop. This time however it lets you key in some of the commands rather than it all feeling automatic, the keys glow slightly as if playing a rhythm game. Looking at the cameras before you enter you know there is a security room to the left of the door in by the elevator about 15 feet from the door. You also know the trick with the camera will become more and more obvious if they are paying attention at all to their jobs as the clock will keep resetting. But there is no indication of what you are supposed to do as you slip inside of the door. Apparently it is now completely up to you whether you decide to just run to the target, or go deal with the guards.

Guards or target?
