Day Two: Seraphi, Goddess of Hope
The Nephilim priest gave the two girls a once over, using his powers to scan them, to see their level of corruption, taint, or even devotion to either light or dark, he could see the beginnings of something a bit murky in Kyrah, still she was mostly attuned to goodness and light. As for Clare, in her he could sense great darkness, darkness that had already begun to snuff out the light within her, and from her outward appearances only, it didn't surprise him. What, however, did surprise him, was the level of willpower and resolve within her, she was without a doubt the strungest "human" he had home come across since he settled in this cathedral. In fact, he could only remember once other human who had shown such strength, willpower and resolve as Clare, a human who had begun a champion of light, and ended up ascending, becoming a goddess.
"Speak, children, why are you here?"
Clare looked the priest straight in his eyes, and taking hold of Kyrah's hand, she called out in a strong voice, "I am here for a cleansing, i am not yet ready to choose between light and dark, good and evil, and i wish to be rid of this demonic taint that has been trying to command me to **** both you and my sister until you submit to me."
The Nephilim stood still, and silently considered what to do, he could cleanse the girl now, and give her a chance at championing light, then perhaps there would become a new goddess fighting for their side one day, he could send her on her way now, let her lose her soul and become a demon, by doing that she would still be powerful, and dangerous, but that would be all she could ever be. However, cleansing her also entailed she could end up championing darkness and the Corruption Goddess Naya, which could end with a new goddess for the dark. Or.. another possible conclusion, "cleanse" Clare in a very effective and permanent way, eliminating her now would certainly be the safest of the options, even if it meant potentially losing a human who could ascend and fight for light. The choice was made.
The Nephilim looked at the girls with saddened eyes, and with a resolve to bear her life on his conscience. He held out his hand, and called out a word in a language unrecognizable to the girls, and light began gathering in his hand. A moment later, and hin his hand was a sword made entirely out of light, a holy sword. "I am prepared to bear your life on my conscience, but i must tell you of why i have made this decision. You are dangerous, your very existence threatens the balance of the shadow world, and as such i have determined the most efficient and safest course of action is take your life, thereby eliminating any threat. I am sorry, please, forgive me for this."
The Nephilim spread his wings, and in but the blink of an eye he was airborn, flying straight towards Clare and Kyrah, his sword pointed straight at Clare's heart, and as it was about to penetrate and destroy her heart, a voice coming from seemingly nowhere rang out "CEASE YOUR ACTIONS, NEPHILIM!"
The Nephilim had too great of a momentum, there was no way he could stop in time, but maybe, maybe he could shift his momentum just slightly enough for the sword to but graze her instead. As such he shifted his weight, and tried all his might to shift the placement of the sword, with his angle now and his momentum all he would need was to shift the placement of the sword a tenth of an inch...
Clare had not stood silently by and simply waited for her doom, no, she was not about to be killed by some stupid half angel that thought her too dangerous, just as she had not let herself be dominated by the cheerleaders or the demons, she was sure as hell not gonna let herself be dominated by a friggin' half angel. Clare heard a voice ring out from seemingly nowhere for the Nephilim to cease his actions, and she could see this had surprised and somewhat halted the Nephilim's momentum, so she did the first thing that came to her mind, she grabbed the sword, and focused all her rage, all her power, all her strenght on it, and the sword turned pitch black and shattered. Clare shocked at her own actions, and what she had done, failed to think fast enough, fast enough to realize the sword was gone, but the half angel was not, and thus, they crashed.
The Nephilim stared at Clare in utter disbelief as she grabbed hold of the sword with both hands, what came next, however, surprised him even more, as the sword turned pitch black and shattered, having somehow gone from being energy to becoming solid, too stunned to even think of what would come next, he crashed into Clare and they both hit the ground, hard.
From out of nowhere, a strong and powerful light shone brightly enough to illuminate an entire block covered by darkness, and out of the light stepped a woman. she was maybe 7 or 8 feet tall, sporting white armor with holy markings, a greatsword with a sheath covered in symbols of hope. She walked towards where the Nephilim and Clare and collided and fallen, ignoring the Nephilim she walked straight towards Clare.
Standing over Clare, the strange angelic woman summoned up light in her hands, and at first Clare thought this woman was about to summon a sword like the nephilim, but as she focused on the light, she felt... warmth, kindness, she felt.. hope. The light began to wash over Clare, healing her, and purging the demonic taint within her, she could also feel the darkness somewhat dissipating. "Greetings, Clarissa, i am Seraphi, Goddess of Hope."
