Chapter 4 by SG SG

What does tomorrow bring?

Day One.

Jenny was exhausted and slightly pissed off. Jay was running late, of course. Probably another late night drinking with his buddies. She didn't mind if he partied a bit when she was out of town but she hated when it interfered with their relationship. Drunk Jay was inconsiderate, and he always had a way of making her the villain for expecting a little thoughtfulness from him.

Sure enough, he pulled up beside her wearing dark sunglasses and a grim face. As she loaded her bags into the trunk, he made no move to get out and help her. She hopped into the passenger seat and they shared a brief kiss.

"So," he asked in a gravelly voice, "how was the trip?"

She decided not to bring up his lateness. "It was fine. I got some bites from a few potential clients, and one person actually scheduled a meeting to discuss moving onto our platform." She smiled wearily. "It's good to be home, though."

"A meeting?" He asked gruffly. "What kind of meeting? How well do you know him?"

She heard the jealousy in his tone and chose to ignore it. "It's a woman, actually. I'm taking her out to lunch on Friday. So how was your week?"

He shrugged. "Ok. Pretty boring. I woke up feeling a little weird this morning. I think I have a cold or something." He sniffled to emphasize the point.

His voice did sound kind of weird, not just hoarse from drinking. She couldn't put her finger on it, but Jay seemed off-kilter today. She silently chastised herself for assuming the worst. "I'm sorry babe, I hope it's nothing serious. What symptoms are you having?"

"I don't know, I'm a little lightheaded and my throat feels funny." Uncharacteristically, he added, "I hope I don't give it to you."

She smiled and gave him a peck on the cheek. "If I can make it through that petri dish of a conference without getting sick, I doubt this bug is gonna get me. Seriously, though, are you ok to drive?" He nodded and turned on the radio.

They drove the rest of the way in silence, listening to an NPR program about penguins. She was surprised he turned on NPR. Normally he wanted to blast some classic rock, but today he tuned it to her favorite station without any prompting. Whatever was going on with Jay, she didn't necessarily mind it.

As they pulled into the driveway, Jay got out and went to get her bags. As he pulled them into the house, Jenny noticed that his gait was a little off. "You poor thing, you're really sick. Can I get you anything?" she asked as she closed the door behind them.

He turned and gave her a strange look. It took her a second to realize it was lust. "I can think of one thing I missed while you were out of town." He stepped closer to her and put his hands on hips.

Jenny tried to hide her surprise. Jay hadn't been openly horny for her like this since the early days of their relationship. It was kind of nice, but she wasn't ready for it just yet. "Alright, alright, let me go shower first. I think it'll be better for both of us that way. What happened to you being sick?"

He pulled back from her. "I'm plenty healthy where it counts." As she turned to go upstairs, he playfully swatted her ass. "Don't take too long."

What's next?
