How does the eviction day go?

Day 9 - The first live eviction of the summer

Chapter 30 by krystalumpire

It's Day 9 (Thursday) in the Big Brother house. Later this evening, the first live eviction of the season will take place, and either Derek or Eugene will leave the house. After the meeting you had with other members of your alliance yesterday, you've decided that you want that person to be Derek. Your primary goal for today, then, is to spread that information around the house to the people you trust to make sure they're on board.

As you go about your morning routine, you find an opportunity to talk to Victoria and Raquel. Even though they're not in your alliance with Isabel and Roxy, you still want to keep them in the loop since you have a Final 3 deal with them. You tell them that the house is voting for Derek to leave, and check in with them to see how they feel. Raquel seems receptive to the idea, but Victoria seems frustrated. You reaffirm your loyalties with the two women, telling them it's their choice what they do, but you just want them to be aware.

Next was the trio of Chirag, Marcus and Danielle. The three of them were all close with Derek and wanted to keep him, but you trust that they'll go along with the majority as long as you explain the reasoning behind the decision and keep them feeling safe with the group. Daisy Mae tells Danielle, Isabel tells Chirag and Roxy tells Marcus, since they were all the closest with those three respectively. That just leaves the outsiders of Ethan and Alina. You're already pretty sure that Alina will keep Eugene, so Daisy Mae makes one more trip to let Ethan in on the plan.

The day whizzes by and, soon enough, you're given notice by the producers to all sit together in the living room and wait for the live eviction to start. Derek and Eugene take their place in the nomination chairs while the rest of you squeeze together on the couches on either side. Everyone in the house is dressed nicely for the occasion. You chat among yourselves for an indeterminate amount of time until the show's host, Julie Chen, appears on the living room monitor.

JULIE CHEN - "Hello, houseguests."

Everyone says hello back to Julie.

JULIE CHEN - "Everyone's so chipper! It's almost as if you aren't about to vote someone out. Speaking of which: Derek, Eugene, in just a few moments, your fellow houseguests will vote to evict live but, before they do, you each have one last chance to plead your case. Derek, you're up first."

DEREK - "First of all, I need to say hello to my kids watching at home. Leo and Mia, you're my whole world and daddy's been missing you terribly. Houseguests, the only thing I ask of you tonight is that you make this decision based on what's best for your own game. If that means getting rid of me, I understand. However, if you see any benefit in keeping me here, whether as a number, as a friend, as a shield, then I hope you'll give me your vote. That's all I have to say. Thank you."

EUGENE - "Shout out to my K-Town crew. Saranghaeyo! Houseguests, I've already said everything I would want to say to everyone individually. I just hope that you all see value in keeping me in this house another week. This has been an amazing experience, and I would love for it to continue. If not, no hard feelings. You're all still invited to my club after this is over, and we'll dance the night away. Love you all."

JULIE CHEN - "Thank you, gentlemen. It is time for the live voting to begin. Julian, as current Head of Household, you are not allowed to vote. Neither are the two nominees. One at a time, the rest of you will enter the Diary Room and cast your vote to evict. Ellie, you're first. Please go to the Diary Room."

One at a time, the producers send the houseguests into the Diary Room to cast their vote in private. After customarily rizzing up Julie Chen, each houseguest then tells the audience who they choose to evict from the house.

ELLIE - "I vote to evict Derek."
ISABEL - "I vote to evict Derek."
DAISY MAE - "I sadly vote to evict Derek."
DANIELLE - "I vote to evict Derek."
CHIRAG - "I sadly vote to evict my friend Derek."
LIAM - "Derek, you're out of here, buddy."
RAQUEL - "I vote to evict Derek."
ROXY - "I sadly vote to evict Derek."
MARCUS - "I'm glad to call him my friend, but I unfortunately have to evict Derek."
ALINA - "I choose to evict Derek."
John - "I vote to evict Derek."
ETHAN - "I vote to evict Derek so I can finally get some sleep!"
VICTORIA - "I know this isn't where the house is going, but I'm not here to play anyone else's game. I vote to evict Eugene."

After placing their vote, each houseguest gives an annoying 5-second shoutout to their friends and family back home before returning to the living room. Soon enough, Julie Chen reappears on the living room monitor.

JULIE CHEN - "Houseguests, the votes are in. When I reveal the vote, the evicted houseguest will have just a few moments to say goodbye, gather his belongings, and walk out the front door. By a vote of 12 to 1: Derek, you are evicted from the Big Brother house."

Derek stands up from the nomination chair. Several houseguests offer him a hug on his way out, which he accepts from Marcus, Liam, Chirag and Danielle. Derek makes his way over to the front door as the rest of the houseguests follow. Derek grabs his duffel bag, waves goodbye to the houseguests one more time, then leaves the Big Brother house as the live studio audience outside applauds him.

You and the other houseguests get a brief glimpse of the outside world as the door closes behind Derek, but soon it shuts and the sound of the crowd disappears. Now, it's just the remaining fifteen of you together again. You watch Derek's photo on the memory wall fade to grey before the producers tell you to go to the backyard for the next HOH competition. Now, you only have a short time while Julie Chen talks to Derek outside to make another important decision.
