Day 5

You wake up with a jolt as one of the male soldiers shakes you. You jump up as you're met with everyone staring at you. "Come on, we only have about 30 minutes before we're supposed to meet everyone else." One of the soldiers says. You look around and notice that the camp is already packed up. And... Where's Anita?

You ask around for her as everyone prepares to leave. The soldier that went off with her last night tells you that she ran ahead despite their warnings to meet the rest of the soldiers early.

Finally you all leave the helicopter and continue through fields and trees until you see something in the distance. The female soldier pulls out a pair of binoculars and looks ahead. "That's them, let's go."

The fact that you didn't see Anita on the way makes you feel better, she probably found her way to everyone else and is waiting for you guys. With this thought in mind you all make it. You're in awe at how big this group is, there's dozens of soldiers and only a couple civilians with multiple vehicles and another helicopter.

"There you are! We were about to write you off as dead and leave you! You didn't see any infected around did you?" An older soldier says to your group. Almost immediately you're left on your own as the soldiers that were with you separate to do their own tasks. You tell Cammie and Chloe that you'll be back and go ask if anyone's seen Anita.

Eventually you find a female soldier in between tasks and walk up to talk to her.

"Hey, did you see a redheaded girl come by earlier? Maybe an hour ago?" Immediately her eyes go wide.

"Yeah I did, we almost lost a man in the process. You can see her in the truck over there." She points to a large armored truck.

"Thanks." You say as you head over. That was strange, what did she mean by 'almost lost a man'? You begin to get a bit worried as you make your way over, until eventually you see a figure inside, multiple figures actually.

Suddenly a face jumps up into view inside the truck, you see Anita staring back at you.

You recoil a bit as your fears from last night are confirmed, Anita was infected...

"Hey Kyle, like you here to let me out of here? This truck is so stuffy."

"Anita? You were infected? Why didn't you tell me?"

She rolls her eyes. "Because I can handle it, that's why I was being so aggressive yesterday, I just wanted to enjoy fucking one more time before I got all stupid and horny."

You glance over at the other figures in the truck and see that they're other soldiers that have been infected. Seeing them next to Anita makes it clear that she isn't fully changed yet, which is a small relief. "What about that soldier? She said they almost lost someone when you came by."

She tries to laugh obnoxiously, but it comes out as a cute giggle instead. "They were overreacting, like, I was telling them I was friendly and they just grabbed me and threw me in here! When they're that forceful of course I'm gonna fight back!"

You look down at your feet and swallow. "You're acting awfully calm about all this, you sure that isn't just the infection talking?"

"Kyle, I'm fine. Truuuuust me! And even if I wasn't, the place we're going has like, secret techno... Tech... stuff that'll totally help me and Alexis!"

Her speech begins to change at the end of her sentence, turning a bit more airheaded sounding. She seems to realize this and shakes her head. "Whoo! Head rush..."

You turn away from the truck and look back at the chaos going on around you. What do you want to do now?
