Day 5 - Some relationships strengthen while others break apart

It's Day 5 (Sunday) in the Big Brother house. You head into the kitchen to make breakfast and find Daisy Mae frying eggs. You go up, give her a little side hug and wish her a good morning.

DAISY MAE - "Hey. I missed you last night."
John - "Me, too. Did Ellie mention anything to you?"
DAISY MAE - "No, she didn't say much after she came inside. I reckon she's got a lot on her mind."
John - "Well, do you want to try and talk to her later? Or should I?"
DAISY MAE - "I'll talk to her. It's easier with girls."
John - "OK. We should also go together and talk to Julian at some point today. Make sure he doesn't nominate one of us."
DAISY MAE - "Alright, sugar. Just let me know when."

You give Daisy Mae another squeeze on the shoulder as you both continue to go about your days.

Days in the Big Brother house are long and it can be tricky finding ways to pass the time. You aren't given anything in the house to watch, read, listen to or write with, so boredom can become a serious concern. As we look through the house, we see vignettes of people doing what they can to beat the boredom:

Chirag and Isabel are locked in a heated chess match. Many of the houseguests have used the chessboard, but these two are far and away the most competent players in the house. They make idle chit chat while they play, both pretending they aren't taking the game as seriously as they truly are. In this particular game, Isabel gets the upper hand over Chirag, but not before promising him a rematch.

Ethan and Julian have found kindred spirits in each other and become the house pranksters. Ethan's small frame allows him to tuck himself into small corners of the house, popping out and scaring the other houseguests. Julian prefers more physical pranks, sneaking up on people and hitting them with shaving cream or things of that nature.

Marcus has asked Raquel to teach him how to dance with his wife. She spends some time each day practicing basic ballroom steps with him. Despite living such different lives, they bond over their lust for life, hard work ethic and love of family.

Daisy Mae and Danielle are both used to waking up early to do chores in their day-to-day lives, and old habits die hard. Even without a farm or kids to take care of, they still follow their internal clocks. The two southern ladies have taken to it as a bonding exercise, swapping stories in the wee hours of the morning while keeping the house tidy.

Derek has started a poker ring in the house. On this particular day, him, Roxy, Liam and you are all sat in the side bedroom playing Texas Hold'em. You don't have any cash or chips to bet with, so you instead bet Froot Loops. It's just for fun and games, but from these sessions you can tell that both Derek and Roxy are competitive and have good poker faces. Liam is easier to read, and he seems more pre-occupied with making friends than with winning the game.

Eugene is helping Ellie practice her Korean. Eugene told the houseguests that he grew up in a bilingual English and Korean speaking household, which inspired Ellie to approach him about it. He helps her with pronunciations, and they also chat for a while about their experiences living in Los Angeles. Eugene offers to show Ellie around K-Town when they're back in the real world, which Ellie enthusiastically agrees to.

EUGENE (Diary Room) - "When Ellie first introduced herself, I wasn't sure if we'd get along. However, now that I've gotten to know her better, she's pretty cool. I think we could definitely be good friends outside of this house and, hopefully, this connection we're building can help me stay in this house past the first eviction."

Across the yard, Alina sits by herself in the hot tub watching Eugene and Ellie talk. Behind her sunglasses, she's staring daggers into the two of them.

ALINA (Diary Room) - "For the first few days in the house, I had Eugene completely wrapped around my finger. But now, Eugene is hanging out with Ellie more than me. If that b**** thinks she can pull him away from me, she's got another thing coming."

As Alina sits and stews, Victoria comes out of the house in her bathing suit and takes a seat on the edge of the pool nearby, blissfully unaware of the resentment bubbling up inside Alina.

VICTORIA - "It's nice to see Ellie opening up more."
ALINA - "What's that supposed to mean?"
VICTORIA - "Just that, she didn't talk much when we first got here. It's good that she's getting along with people."
ALINA - "If you like her that much, why don't you go bother her instead of me?"
VICTORIA - "Excuse me? Did I say something to upset you?"
ALINA - "Just back off, will you? I can't deal with your fakeness right now."
VICTORIA - "The hell? What makes you think you can talk to me like that?"

The two women end up getting into an argument that escalates into a shouting match. Eugene and Ellie take notice and come over to talk them down, but neither woman lets up. Eventually, Alina gets out of the hot tub to try and end it, but Victoria pursues her into the house and they both continue shouting. At this point, most of the houseguests have heard the commotion and converged in the kitchen trying to stop the fight, but this only seems to set Alina off more. She starts throwing out insults left and right.

ALINA - "Just go away, Victoria! Get out of my face and go home!"
VICTORIA - "Well, guess what? I won the Veto, so I'm not going anywhere!"
ALINA - "You're 34 years old, b****. Act your f***ing age!"
VICTORIA - "Oh, and it's okay for you to behave like a child at 26? Here's some advice: Don't pick fights you aren't prepared to win."
DAISY MAE - "Both of you, stop! This is not how ladies should be acting!"
ALINA - "Don't tell me to act like a lady when you're hooking up with John after three god**** days!"

After a few more minutes and several more insults, Ethan leaves the Diary Room where he'd been giving confessionals and Alina immediately storms inside to get away from everyone, flipping Victoria off before locking the door behind her. This ends the fight, though the aftershocks keep the house on edge for a while after this. Victoria explains to the rest of the house what happened, and Ellie and Eugene are able to corroborate that Alina started the argument.

You're worried that Victoria might have just put a target on her back. Even if Alina started it, getting into a fight with another houseguest is going to stick in peoples' minds over the coming weeks. On the bright side, at least they both looked sexy as hell in their swimsuits while they argued. It'll be difficult to keep both Alina and Victoria in the game now that they're public enemies, but it'll be worth it once they're both on their knees for you.
